On this Day in History: April 7
On this day, April 7th, the Boeing Delta II rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, carrying NASA's 2001 Mars Odyssey spacecraft into space on its seven month journey to Mars. Today is also World Health Day, and the Lewis and Clark expedition leaves Fort Mandan (on the Missouri River near what is now Washburn, North Dakota), beginning their journey to the Pacific Ocean. In 1915, Billie Holiday was born in Philadelphia. --Sophia
CCA's April Character Trait: Gentleness
The April character trait of the month is gentleness. Colossians 3:12 reads “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
I asked three students what gentleness means to them, and this is what they said. Rett from 2nd grade said, “Gentleness means being nice and kind to others.” Ally Jo from 5th grade said, “It means being gentle and kind to others.” Arianna from 7th grade said, “It means loving for others and caring with tenderness.” –Jacob
Devotion Corner
Parents, Grandparents, and Staff, you might enjoy this devotion from “Today Daily Devotional: Gentleness,” which is based off of Bible verse Titus 3:2, “Remind the people...to be peaceable and considerate, and always be gentle toward everyone.”
