HAVE A GREAT SUMMER!
That's a wrap on another incredible school year at Kaegebein! The final day of school wrapped up in the most joyful way possible as teachers and staff lined the entire bus loop to give our students an unforgettable send-off. The air was filled with the sounds of cheering, ringing cowbells, and thousands of bubbles floating by as the buses pulled away for the summer.
The moment was extra sweet as our school community gave one final, special send-off to our wonderful retirees, honoring their years of dedication as the final bells rang. We are so incredibly proud of all our students' hard work this year. Have a wonderful, fun, and safe summer, Kaegebein families—we can't wait to see you in September!
FIFTH GRADE MOVING UP DAY
This week we celebrated our fifth graders in style during the Kaegebein 5th Grade Moving Up Day ceremony at Grand Island High School!
The celebration started right here at home. Before boarding the buses in the morning, our fifth graders took one final emotional lap through the Kaegebein hallways. The entire school—lined with cheering teachers and enthusiastic second, third, and fourth graders—clapped and cheered them on to send them off to their big moment.
During the ceremony, students were recognized with awards and accolades for their phenomenal academic achievements, hard work, and outstanding citizenship during their time at Kaegebein. The event wrapped up with a beautiful, nostalgic culminating slideshow highlighting their favorite elementary school memories. It was the perfect tribute to honor their journey and celebrate their official entrance into middle school next year. Congratulations, fifth graders—we will miss you!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MERCY WATSON!
Miss Santospirito's classroom was full of joy and crumbs last week as students gathered to celebrate the birthday of the beloved book character, Mercy Watson!
To honor the famous "porcine wonder" from Kate DiCamillo's popular series, the class indulged in Mercy's absolute favorite treat in the entire world: warm, delicious, hot buttered toast! It was a wonderful, cozy way to celebrate a love of reading and bring a favorite story straight off the page and onto the tastebuds.
STOP ANIMATION FILM FESTIVAL
Students in fifth grade have been working for the past six weeks on a stop motion animation unit in art, taught in collaboration with Mrs. Schlageter, our art teacher, and Mrs. Pritchard, our librarian. The students worked with partners and made a storyboard for their stop animation short, designed their own set, chose/created characters, and took individual slides of each scene and movement using their Chromebooks. This week, it all came together with their grade wide Stop Motion Animation Film Festival where students showcased their completed stop motion animations.
FINISHING THE YEAR WITH FRIENDSHIP
As the final bells drew near, many of our classrooms paused their traditional studies to focus on the most important part of our school community: the lifelong friendships made this year.
Students spent the final days playing board games, sharing favorite books, collaborating on creative projects, and simply enjoying each other's company before heading out for the long summer break. It was a beautiful reminder of the tight-knit family we have here at Kaegebein. These shared smiles and memories were the absolute perfect way to wrap up a fantastic school year!
KIDBIZ IS A HUGE SUCCESS!
A massive congratulations to all of our incredible Kaegebein students who participated in this year's KidBiz event last weekend! The weather could not have been more beautiful as the Town Commons transformed into a bustling marketplace filled with innovation, creativity, and drive.
It was absolutely inspiring to see our young entrepreneurs showcasing their handmade products, managing their booths, and interacting with customers from all over the community. Your hard work, passion, and business savvy were on full display. We are so incredibly proud of your drive and spirit—future CEOs in the making!
