MES Families,

Wow this past week was a warm one! Despite the heat, our students worked so hard to continue following routines, while also mixing in some assessments for our initial benchmarking period. I hope each of your homes are feeling a bit more in the school routine and running well!

Please take a look at all the information in this newsletter. There is a lot to review!

Enjoy your Labor Day holiday!

Take care,
Chandley

School Fees School Fees

There is a $65 school fee for all students K-5. This covers items that your child(ren) will use all year long. These fees can be paid in one of three ways:

  1. Cash- You can send in cash to Joy Wood in the front office. Please be sure to note your child's name, grade level, and student ID
  2. Check- Checks should be made out to Madeira City Schools. In the memo, please add your child's name and student ID. If you have more than one child here at MES, you can combine the fees and write one check (just please add their names and IDs).
  3. PaySchools- If you want to pay online, you will need to create an account separate from your PaySchools lunch account and then register under "Madeira City Schools".

PikMyKid PikMyKid

PikMyKid is our MES dismissal program. Please double check that your app is up to date and that you've accurately reflected the default dismissal plan for your child(ren). If you are new to us this year, we will be providing you a parent connection code to set you up in the app and have you connected to your child(ren).

Dismissal Tips:

  • Default Dismissal Plan - what is the most common plan for dismissal, set that as default.
  • Bus numbers have been removed from the app. You will simply select "Bus" now.
  • Changes must be made prior to 2:50pm for the day.
  • If you need to make a change it must be made in the app. Do not simply message the teacher as this impacts our dismissal efficiency.
  • Need something last minute? (After 2:50pm) - call the main office and we will problem solve with you.

Car Rider Arrival and Dismissal Tips Car Rider Arrival and Dismissal Tips

  • Safety and efficiency is the priority. Put down your cell phones and lower your speed.
  • Arrival line opens at 8:45 (8:40 if inclement weather). No school staff are monitoring the playground prior to 8:45am.
  • Pull all the way to the front of the curb by the cone and crosswalk. This is the first stop in the line.
  • Please allow your child out of the car along any point at the curb, all the way back to the picnic table with a shade.
  • Drivers must remain in their car. Staff are along the curb to assist students, if needed to get out and in the cars.
  • If you need to get out to assist your child, please pull off into one of the parking spots and out of the car line.
  • Students must exit and enter the cars on the curb side only. Walking around and in between the cars is a safety risk.
  • Do not pull around any cars lined on the curb. Some of our students may require a little more time to get into their cars and that's ok.

Lunch Processes Lunch Processes

Please be sure to set up, if it's not already, your child(ren)'s lunch accounts for this coming school year. As a reminder, we outsource our meal program through Milford School District. You will need to select their district when you register your child(ren) for lunch. Students will input a code in the cafeteria to purchase lunches. You are able to load money on their school account via the website.

Please take a look and ensure that you are all set!

I know everyone is still basking in the heat of summer, but our biggest event of the year is right around the corner, The Fall Changing Hands Sale! We appreciate how you have helped us in the past and look forward to seeing you again at our upcoming event the weekend of 9/11-9/12. This is the only fundraiser for MES, and it is 100% run by volunteers. Profits from the sale help to fund field trips, playground gear, classroom tech and various learning materials. I wanted to send past volunteers an early opportunity to sign up and get the first pick of spots. They fill quickly so please sign up ASAP!

Why Volunteer?

  • Shop Early: All volunteers receive a Pre-Sale Pass to shop the best deals before the general public.

  • Student Hours: MHS and MMS students are welcome to volunteer. It’s a great way to earn community service hours in a fun environment.
