What a week! Between 3 snow days, extreme cold temperatures, and several inches of snow, winter definitely made itself known. We hope everyone stayed safe, warm, and cozy during the extended time at home.
As we try to thaw out and look ahead, there’s lots to be excited about! PTG’s Mother/Son Dance is THIS Saturday, Kindergarten sign-ups begin Monday, and our fun Unplug & Play event is coming up on February 5th, After School Foreign Language starts February 3rd.
Plus, there are even more exciting activities below, so keep reading—you won’t want to miss what’s coming up!
Don’t forget to stop by our Lost and Found area- it’s filling up quickly!
Have a wonderful weekend!
PARKING REMINDER
We know the weather is getting colder and it is covenient to park in the upper lot and wait for your student. However, this lot is reserved for staff and Preschool pick up ONLY. The only vehicles we will be allowing in the upper lot at drop off and pick up will be those with the orange PRESCHOOL sheet in the window.
This is to ensure the safety of our students that are walkers and foot pick up as well as our bus riders. We are seeing a large number of cars parking in the upper lot or blocking the busses which is causing traffic flow issues
We appreciate your cooperation!
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the office! We are happy to help!

What does decoding mean?
A simple definition for decoding is recognizing letter sounds or patterns and blending them together to translate a written word into speech. Decoding is a foundational reading skill (phonics) that must be developed to begin successful reading with fluency. This process begins with students recognizing their letters and sounds then blending the sounds to speak the word, i.e., /c/ - /a/ - /t/ becomes cat.
Here is an example of what happens when a student decodes a word:
Recognizing letters and letter patterns (like b, sh, igh)
Knowing the sounds they make
Blending those sounds together to read a word
Activities: Reading Rockets is a reputable research-based website for all things reading; and below are age-specific resources for decoding activities.

Here is a video showing how a 3rd grade student uses syllables to decode longer words more easily.

Health Reminder: Flu and Seasonal Illness
We are seeing an increase in flu and seasonal illnesses at school. To help prevent the spread of
illness, please keep your child home if they have a fever (100°F or higher), vomiting or diarrhea,
significant cough, sore throat with fever, body aches, extreme fatigue, or flu-like symptoms.
Students should be fever-free for 24 hours without medication and symptom-free for 24 hours
after vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school. Thank you for helping keep our school
community healthy.

Dance Update:
It looks like we are going to have a great turnout at the Mother Son Dance on Saturday night at 6 pm. If you bought advanced sale tickets via Venmo and filled out the online form, then look for your electronic Mother Son Dance tickets in your email. If you haven't already bought a ticket, but still want to join us, you can pay at the door via cash, check or Venmo. It’s $10 per person.
Note, if you paid by Venmo but can’t find the electronic ticket, then you can check in with the volunteers at the ticket booth. We'll have a list of all the tickets purchased in advance.
Read At Home
Kramer RAH (Reading At Home) is a voluntary program from K-2nd graders that builds a home-school connection by rewarding students for reading at home. Each week students record the books they've read and turn-in record sheets for rewards. Rewards alternate between a student selected book and a small prize.
Have you connected your Kroger Rewards card to the Kramer PTG yet? Each account can be connected to ONE nonprofit. When you use this feature, Kroger donates a percentage of your expenses to our PTG. You just have to sign up once!
