Administration Message
Dear Families,
It has been a full and meaningful week here at STJPII. Many of our students had the wonderful opportunity to learn about Inuit games with Goota Desmarais, deepening their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous culture and traditions. We were also grateful for our Linking Generations visit, which continues to build strong connections and shared joy between our students and community members. In addition, our badminton tournaments brought great energy and school spirit, with students demonstrating teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship.
As we look out at the lingering snow, we remain hopeful that this truly marks the end of winter snowfall and that signs of spring will soon be here to stay.
Last Sunday, we celebrated Divine Mercy Sunday, a beautiful reminder of God’s endless love and forgiveness. The Gospel this Sunday from Luke 24:13–35, which shares the story of the Road to Emmaus, invites us to reflect on how Jesus walks with us even when we do not recognize Him. Just as the disciples’ hearts burned within them as He spoke, we are reminded to remain open to His presence in our daily lives, especially in moments of conversation, learning, and the breaking of bread.
May we continue to grow in faith and awareness, trusting that Jesus is always near, guiding us with love and mercy.
Blessings,
Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Johnson

Feedback Needed: Student Technology Use- Non-Instructional Time
Dear St. JPII Families,
Your feedback is important to us. We are seeking your input as we consider the possibility of limiting or eliminating personal technology use during recess and lunch breaks in order to better support students’ mental health, social development, and overall school experience.
St. JPII's current School Policy on Personal Communication Device consists of the following:
Grade 5 and 6 Students:
Students are not permitted to utilize a Personal Communication Device (PCD) at any point during the school day. While we advise that students leave their PCDs at home, if brought to school, students must place their PCD in their locker and it must remain there until the end of the school day.
Grade 7 and 8 Students:
Students are not permitted to utilize a Personal Communication Device (PCD) during instructional time, which encompasses any period where students are engaged in learning activities under the supervision of a teacher. Grade 7 and 8 students may use their PCDs during morning break, lunch, and afternoon break, but outside of these times, it is expected to remain in their locker.
Other PCD Expectations
PCDs are not to be taken into examination settings PCDs are not to be used in settings such as change rooms, washrooms, or private counseling rooms, where a person’s reasonable expectation of privacy may be violated.
As we continue to observe student use of technology during non-instructional time, we are reviewing whether this approach continues to best support our students in Grades 7 & 8.
In today’s technological world, it is important that we find a healthy balance between preparing students to use technology responsibly for learning, communication, and the future workplace, while also supporting their well-being. Equally important is ensuring that students have opportunities to socialize, build relationships, be active, and enjoy time with their peers during the school day.
We appreciate you taking a few moments to share your thoughts as we explore how best to support our students and strengthen our school community.
Students will continue to have access to the school phone in the office if they need to contact their families.
This short survey will remain open until Friday, April 24, 2026.
Thank you for your continued support.

3. Parents/Visitors
- In the interest of the safety and respect for all our students and staff, ALL PARENTS/VISITORS MUST report to the office upon arrival at our building.
- We realize that sometimes student lunches and school materials get forgotten at home and need to be dropped off at school, therefore we kindly ask that parents complete these drop-offs at the office, or check in for further instructions. For the safety of our school, we do not want visitors or parents wandering around without our consent or knowledge. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
- If you have any concerns, or need to speak with a staff member or administration, please call the office ahead of time to make an appointment. Thank-you for your understanding and cooperation in this regard.
