The North Star

Dear Friends,

Praised be Jesus Christ!

According to various news outlets, the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, requires no further cancer treatments. Mindful that the first Our Father of the Rosary is offered for the health and intentions of the Holy Father, we continue to pray for him without ceasing.

Speaking of the Rosary, today, Thursday, October 22, is the feast of St. Pope John Paul II. JPII, in his love for Our Lady, was deeply committed to spreading this devotion. His papal motto was Totus Tuus, or “Totally Yours,” which comes from St. Louis de Montfort’s True Devotion to Mary. After losing his mother during his boyhood, Karol Wojtyla (JPII’s birth name) found solace in his relationship with the Blessed Mother. His life and papacy were deeply rooted in Marian spirituality.

In 2002, he introduced the Luminous Mysteries, which are traditionally prayed on Thursdays. During October, the Month of the Holy Rosary, we, too, find comfort in the closeness of Our Lady.

Vivat Jesus!

On Saturday, October 31st, the Tri Parish Knights of Columbus will be cleaning up along State Highway 16/60.

They will meet at the corner of County Hwy J and State Hwy 16/60 at 8 am. Volunteers of all ages are needed and appreciated! The time commitment is about 1 hour depending on the number of volunteers. In case of bad weather, this will be rescheduled.

Jason will be joining us in person for his Double Feature Event. Jason will give two talks: Purified and Gender & the Theology of Your Body. This is a family-based event that invites parents, teens, and all adults to learn about God’s plan for love and to consider what is the meaning of sex, gender, and the human body? It combines two of Jason Evert’s presentations, Purified and Gender & the Theology of Your Body, with a time of prayer and adoration for everyone with the sacrament of Reconciliation available. We will also be distributing free resources to every attendee so that every member of the family can take items home to help them discover how their body as a man or woman reveals their identity and calling and to live a life of purity.
