Another Great STEAM Showcase

Last night, the lower gym was packed with hundreds of students, faculty, and parents for the annual Ipswich STEAM Showcase. The event brought together work from all four schools in the district, filling the space with a wide range of hands-on projects and demonstrations.

The Middle School exhibits covered a significant portion of the floor. Students operated custom-built robots through various tasks, while others displayed traditional science projects like volcanoes, molecules, and detailed 3D models of cell organelles. The integration of different subjects was clear, as visitors moved from probability games and math-based statistics projects to galleries of student artwork.

Throughout the evening, students remained at their stations to explain their processes and answer questions from the crowd. The layout of the gym allowed for a high volume of traffic, giving parents and community members a direct look at the specific curriculum goals met by each grade level this year.

The event served as a practical summary of the year's work, showcasing the technical and creative skills developed across the district. Thank you to the staff who coordinated the logistics in the lower gym and to the families who came out to support the students' efforts.

What Has Been Happening In Class?

Our staff always plans a blend of hands on activities, kinesthetic lessons, as well as more traditional school work. These pictures about what is going on in a few of the classrooms recently can also be a conversation starter with your students if they answer your "What did you do at school today?" question with - "Nothing." This week's pictures include students in 6th grade who recently built and tested their solar powered electric cars in Science class; 7th graders constructing catapults after learning how they were used in Ancient Rome in Ms. Miller's Social Studies class; and 8th Graders in Sra. Harvey's Spanish class working with the verb poder (able to) and more specifically how they are able to affect their environment.
