Burnet Hill Elementary School students, families, and staff came together to make a difference through The Breakfast Brigade, an initiative founded by Owen and Zach Gershwin, seniors at Newark Academy.

Inspired by the brothers’ mission to fight food insecurity, the entire Burnet Hill community participated in a cereal drive to support Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors. Thanks to their generosity, the school collected over 500 boxes of cereal, helping to provide breakfast for more than 5,000 people in need. The project showcased the power of teamwork, compassion, and community spirit—proof that when everyone pitches in, small acts can lead to big change one bowl at a time.

This event was sponsored by the Burnet Hill Student Council led by Melissa Lowenthal.

Once again, LPS' District String Day brought together orchestra students from 5th through 12th grade, creating a powerful and inspiring musical community. Throughout the morning, students experienced the excitement of playing in a large ensemble, meeting fellow string players from across the district, and listening to a variety of uplifting performances.

Students also had the unique opportunity to work with different string directors from multiple schools, giving them a chance to learn new techniques, receive fresh perspectives, and connect with teachers they may one day work with in upper grades. Their focus, teamwork, and musical growth throughout the event were truly remarkable!

A highlight of the celebration was the High School Chamber Orchestra performance. As they played, students joyfully began to sing along to the familiar tunes, creating a heartwarming moment that captured the spirit of unity and shared love of music.

The Livingston High School Key Club student volunteers recently took a step back in time, leading a special tour of the high school building for the LHS Class of 1975 as part of their 50th reunion celebration!

The returning Lancers enjoyed revisiting familiar halls and classrooms while also getting a firsthand look at the many changes the building has undergone over five decades. The tour was a huge success, filled with great memories and good cheer. So much so, that the appreciative Class of '75 generously donated $500 to the Key Club to support their future community service projects. What a wonderful way to connect generations of Lancers!

Livingston High School (LHS) students recently demonstrated community commitment through two successful events benefiting the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ).

The food drive organized by LHS clubs and held in the LHS Front Oval, was a huge success, thanks to the collaboration of more than 15 clubs and over 60 student volunteers. Their efforts successfully filled all 10 donation boxes with much-needed items. Township Council member Ketan K. Bhuptani and Harsh Raju from the Livingston Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (LCDI) stopped by to show their support and thank the students.

The giving continued with the LHS Key Club’s annual “Give Thanks, Give Back” fundraiser. More than 200 members took part in this required community service event, standing outside local businesses to educate the community about food insecurity and the important work of CFBNJ. Through this "canning event," the Key Club raised an impressive $3,215.34 to support CFBNJ and future Key Club service efforts.

Livingston Public Schools strives to respond to concerns and/or questions as quickly and effectively as possible. In a school system, as in any organization, the “chain of command” refers to communication levels of authority in the school district. The philosophy behind the chart in the link below is to refer community members to those people in the organization who can best solve any concerns or questions that may arise, and then direct them to the appropriate people if issues are not able to be effectively addressed at the first level.
