Opening Message From Dr. Galusi Opening Message From Dr. Galusi

Dear MPS Community,

We were blessed with beautiful weather last night as we celebrated the Medford High School Class of 2026! Thank you to all the parents, caregivers, staff members, elected officials, volunteers, and especially the graduating seniors who came together. Everybody was kind, respectful and courteous throughout the evening. Special thank you to our MHS Film & TV Production students who operated the live stream of the event.

To our recent graduates from Medford High School and Curtis Tufts -Your journey is not meant to mirror all your peers. Some of you will take time to explore, to pivot, to redefine what success means for you. There will be moments when your path feels direct, and moments when it shifts in ways you didn’t expect. New opportunities will appear. New directions will call you forward.

Visit our Facebook Page to see more photos from Thursday's MHS commencement ceremony.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galusi

Medford High School Building Project Update Medford High School Building Project Update

During Monday's meeting MHS School Building Committee, there were multiple presentations for the community and the public. The project team shared the upcoming project timeline, revised cost estimations for the new C2.2A, C3.4A, and C2.2A High School-only design options, and a Life Cycle Cost Analysis. Additionally, the Mayor's Office provide the committee an update on city Capital Projects and a preliminary estimate of the potential project cost impact. Those presentations, along with other materials from Monday's meeting, can be found here.

This past Wednesday, we hosted Community Forum #5 for the project in a hybrid setting. Thank you to everyone who joined us online and in-person. The project team presented revised cost estimations to the public, further described the current design options and gathered feedback for the Building Committee. If you'd like to provide feedback on the current design options, please view the presentation from Wednesday's meeting and scan the QR code at the end of the presentation. The full meeting recording can be found here.

The Building Committee will select one design option to move forward with next Wednesday, June 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the MHS Library. Wednesday's meeting can also be joined via Zoom or watched on the MPS YouTube channel and Medford Community Media.

As a reminder, while the committee is selecting one design option next week, there will still be further discussions on what will be included in the building and on the surrounding land that will affect cost. Thank you to John Petrella and the Medford Happenings team for inviting me on their show recently to discuss this timeline and more. The full interview can be watched below.

To learn more about the project and see upcoming events, please visit https://medfordhsproject.com/. Additionally, community members can stay informed on the project by signing up for the project mailing list.

MPS Celebrates Pride Month MPS Celebrates Pride Month

MPS is proud to celebrate Pride Month throughout the month of June. We are fortunate to live in a community where students, staff, city and community organizations can come together to uplift our LGBTQIA+ community and create intentional spaces of belonging, acceptance, and inclusion.

The celebrations began this past Wednesday with the city's annual Pride Flag Raising and Festival. Thank you Medford DEI Director Frances Nwajei for organizing such a thoughtful event, including inviting members of our school community to speak and engage with the public. Meanwhile, our MHS Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) organization raised the Pride Flag at the high school yesterday in beautiful sunny weather.

Next Wednesday, June 10, we will be having a districtwide pride spirit day supported by our school-based GSA and Rainbow Club organizations. Throughout the month of June, we celebrate the strength that comes from our school diversity and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive school community for all.
