Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear VCHS Families,

What an incredible week at VCHS! Our seniors made lasting memories at the annual Senior Beach Trip, celebrating joy, connection, and belonging with their classmates. We also honored California Native American Day, deepening our students’ understanding of the rich history and culture of our local tribes. Our teachers participated in valuable EL and Migrant student training with Yesenia Vargas and Reyna Valentin to better support every student’s success. And lastly, a huge "thank you" to the VCHS Foundation for putting on an amazing Golf Tournament that brought our community together while raising critical funds to support programs across our school.

Looking ahead, next week is Homecoming Week! Each day will be full of school spirit, leading up to Friday night’s JV and Varsity Football games and the Homecoming Parade. We’ll wrap up the week with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night. This year’s theme is “Lights, Camera, HOCO!” – we can’t wait to roll out the red carpet and celebrate our Jaguars in style.

Go Jags!

Senior Beach Trip: Celebrating Joy, Connection, and Belonging

Our annual Senior Beach Trip was a beautiful reminder of why Valley Center High School is such a special place. This day is about more than just sand and surf — it’s about creating memories, building connections, and celebrating the sense of belonging that makes our Jaguar community strong.

We are so grateful to the incredible team who worked behind the scenes to make this event possible — our school nurse, child nutrition staff, office staff, bus drivers, administrators, and our partners at Camp Pendleton as well as the Army, who graciously allowed us to use their beach. Because of their efforts, our seniors had the chance to simply be together, laugh, and enjoy a milestone moment they will remember for years to come. Go Jags!

AP Government Students Debate History in Action

Students in Jason Roach's AP Government students recently brought history to life by using the Articles of Confederation to debate a fictional law in class. This engaging activity helped students experience firsthand the challenges our early government faced, which ultimately led to the creation of the U.S. Constitution. Next, students will examine the same law and debate process under the Constitution, comparing the two systems to see how weaknesses were addressed — and where new challenges emerged — laying the groundwork for the Amendments that followed.

Building Understanding: Supporting Our EL and Migrant Students

At VCHS, we believe that understanding the background and experiences of our students is key to their success. This month, our teachers had the opportunity to learn from Yesenia Vargas-Navarro, our Migrant TOSA (Teacher on Special Assignment), and Reyna Valentin, our ELD TOSA, about strategies to support English Learners and Migrant students in the classroom. This training session helped deepen teacher understanding of our students’ unique journeys and provided practical tools to ensure every Jaguar feels seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.

VCHS October Students of the Month

At VCHS, we are proud to celebrate our October Students of the Month! These Jaguars exemplify the Jag 3 R’s – Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships – in all they do. Whether it’s showing kindness to their peers, stepping up as leaders in the classroom, or taking ownership of their learning, these students remind us what it means to be part of the Jaguar family. We are proud of their hard work and dedication to doing their best every day. Congratulations to our amazing Jaguars! A big shout out to Mr. Tuttle for his excellent grilling skills and to our amazing teaching and counseling staff for putting this together for our students!
