School Absences + After School Events

If your child is home sick or sent home from school, we kindly ask that they do not attend any after-school events (such as Fine Arts Nights, HSA activities, dances, movies, etc.).

We appreciate your help in keeping our school community healthy! When children stay home to recover, they return to school feeling better and ready to learn. This also helps reduce the spread of illness to other students. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Forward Testing for our 3rd-6th Grades (email sent 2/2/26)

Dear Ronald Reagan Families:

Wisconsin Students in Grades 3-8 and 10 will be participating in the WI Forward assessment during the March 16th – April 24th testing window. State assessments, including the Forward Exam, are required by both State (Wis. Stat. § 118.30) and Federal ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) Law. Equitable testing is important, because clearly knowing the performance of all students is the first step in closing achievement gaps. We must know exactly which gaps exist, the size of the gaps, and the persistence of the gaps. Your student’s classroom teacher will communicate their FORWARD exam schedules to you later in March.

The WI Forward assessment tests all 3rd-8th grade students in the areas of Math, and English Language Arts. In addition, grades 4, 8 & 10 are also tested in Science and grades 4 & 8 in Social Studies. One or more subtests may be administered daily during the identified time frame. Please make sure students are healthy before sending them to school. Students not in school on the scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a make-up test prior to the close of the testing window.

More information can be found in the Informational Brochure for Families located at the following link. https://dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/assessment/pdf/Forward_Brochure_for_Families.pdf

The brochure gives more information about the assessment including its purpose, what scores will be provided, and how the scores will be used.

The WI Forward assessment measures the knowledge and skills your child(ren) should have acquired by the time they reach each grade level. Their performance on the assessment will not affect any of their current grades. Please encourage your son or daughter to take the test seriously and do the best they can. The results of these tests will be used to help school staff make determinations or placement in classes to best support your child(ren).

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss your student’s specific needs for this assessment, please contact me at angela.patterson@nbexcellence.org.

Thank you,

Angela Patterson, Principal

At our next HSA general meeting, we will be discussing the preliminary budget and activity plan for next school year. Due to the highly successful fundraising from this year’s Fun Run, we anticipate a surplus of funds available for new activities, events, clubs or school spending to be available.

We’d love to hear YOUR ideas on what we could add or change for next year, and how you’d like to see the HSA spend the additional funds. For your idea to be considered, please fill out this survey prior to March 11th. Please also consider joining us at the March 12th General Meeting to voice your opinions and shape the budget and activities for next school year.
