SHS AP BIOLOGY CLASSES VISIT THE WATERSHED STEWARDSHIP CENTER

Mrs. DiGioia and Mr. Mott recently took their Strongsville High School AP Biology students to the Watershed Stewardship Center in Parma to get some hand-ons experience doing ecological field work. The students were divided into three groups and worked with naturalists to learn how to assess the health of various ecosystems. They got their feet wet doing a QHEI assessment of West Creek, went "pond dipping" in the wetland for indicator macroinvertebrates, and calculated a biodiversity index in two different quadrants of the forest, one with deer and one without.

They will be applying these skills closer to home over the next two months as they conduct their own action-based ecological research. This means they have to ask a meaningful question, make a hypothesis, and design a plan to test that hypothesis. Then, they will then collect and analyze their data and present it in a formal written report and trifold. Their trifolds will be on display at the SHS Annual Science Night on April 23, 2026.

ROSATI’S FUNDRAISER FOR SHS THEATRE PROGRAM

On Wednesday October 1, SHS's Theatre Program will be holding a fundraiser at Rosati's Frozen Custard (922 Pearl Rd.) from 6:00pm - 8:00pm to help support its fall production of The Crucible.

Please consider bringing the whole family for some custard (cups, cones, or pints) to help recoup many of the funds already put into props, set pieces, licensing rights, etc. 20% of the sales at Rosati’s on 10/1 from 6-8pm will be donated back to the SHS Theatre Program. You must show this fundraiser flyer during checkout.
