Dear Families,

Please read all of the information to hear how we are including Halloween celebrations at the middle school! I really want to allow our kids to be kids on this day, so school appropriate costumes will be allowed. It is still a full day of learning, so the costumes cannot detract from the classroom lessons. No masks, weapons, props or inflatable costumes will be allowed. They can wear them for the day and then wear them afterschool to the GIMS Halloween Bash.

I will be running a House challenge for the students on October 30th, and the winning house will get a treat of cider and donuts during advisory! (Let me know if you'd like to help with donations to that.)

Thank you for coming to Parent Teacher conferences yesterday. It is so important that teachers and parents work together and communicate to ensure each child's success. We will continue to work towards success for all students with your help! Please look for an email with a survey about your experiences.

Best- Mrs. Barringer👻

🎃 Keep it Spooky, Not Scary: Avoid costumes with violent or bloody images. It's okay to look "spooky," but nothing gruesome or violent.

👁️Makeup: Please keep makeup minimal and apply it at home. Remember, learning is still happening. No masks will be allowed.

🧥 Safe Costumes: Make sure your child’s costume doesn’t have anything hanging below the wrist or ankle to avoid tripping or getting things caught.

🚫 No Weapons or Props: Please don’t include any toy weapons or props in the costume.

🏃 PE-Friendly Costumes: If your child has Lifetime Fitness on the 30th, pick a costume that’s safe and easy to move in.

Picture Retakes Picture Retakes

Retake Picture Day is coming up on:

Thursday, Oct 29

If you're satisfied with your child's picture, no further action is required.

If you purchased and were unhappy with your Picture Package, please send your Picture Package to school with your student on Retake Day. Your Retake Picture Package will be produced and shipped to the school four weeks after Retake Day. Please note, if your child is photographed on the original and Retake Picture Days, the Retake picture will replace the original picture in certain products, like the yearbook.

Students who were absent for Picture Day should come to school prepared to have their picture taken. If you have not preordered, please use the Retake Order Code 0517MDF to place your order at https://inter-state.com/Order. To see your Order History, check your Inter-State Account.

Find answers to Retake Day questions here.

Staff at GIMS want to ensure that students leave our building with the fundamentals of writing appropriate for their developmental stage. This will ensure that they are prepared for any kind of writing task that comes their way in the future! We made sure to focus on foundational writing skills that were taught at the elementary level to ensure that students are well aware of what the writing expectations mean and entail.
