Boots & Blossoms Spring Fling - April 16
Our PTO is hosting a Spring Fling on Thursday, April 16 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Students MUST be accompanied by an adult and all families are welcomed. Students are invited to dress in country western attire (examples: Denim, Plaid, Cowboy Hats, Boots, Bandanas) for a fun school dance with games and concessions available for purchase. There will be an entry charge of $2.00 per student with adults getting in free. As we have shared previously, space will be limited. If you were not able to complete the RSVP form, you may continue to do so and will be contacted by someone if space is not longer available. You may also come the evening of the event and again, will be made aware if space is not available prior to paying the entry charge for your child.
Bus Ridership for the 2026-2027 School Year - Due April 17
Please help us as we prepare our routing for the 2026-27 school year. Students previously came home with a parent letter from our PCS Transportation Department. Thank you to all families that have already returned this bus ridership letter as we greatly appreciate it! Each letter is individualized to each student, therefore if you have misplaced yours or did not receive it, please contact the school or email rpe_info@pender.k12.nc.us in order for us to send another copy home with your child. These letters contain each student’s current bus stop information. If the stop location fields are blank, it means the student is not currently assigned to a bus. If there are no changes to be made, we are requesting for each parent/guardian to circle all “YES”s on the letter. All “YES” forms must be turned in to the administrative office of the school no later than April 17th, 2026. If changes do need to be made, please circle “NO”s (as directed and written in the letter) and proceed to completing the Google form and update your transportation needs for the upcoming school year. The Google form is now accepting responses! Link: 2026-27 School Bus Ridership Form
Proctors Needed
We are in need of test proctors during our End-of-Grade testing window, May 8 - 20. High days of demand for proctors are Friday, May 8, Tuesday, May 12 and Thursday, May 14. Test proctors help to monitor students during our test sessions. Test sessions typically run from 7:30 - 11:30 a.m.. Please complete this form if you are able to volunteer to proctor to assist with testing during the month of May.
Ronald McDonald Pop Tab Challenge Continues
Surgery took place during spring break for one of our very own Rocky Point Elementary family members and tabs already turned in have been taken to the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte, NC! As there will be future surgeries, please consider saving and sending in all of your tabs from soda, food and pet food cans as we will continue our efforts in collecting tabs to send to the Ronald McDonald House. Again, collecting can pop tabs supports the operating costs of providing a home away from home for families with sick children. Let’s work together to collect as many pop tabs as possible!
Choose Love Presentation - April 20
Join us at Topsail High School for an inspiring presentation from Scarlett Lewis from the Choose Love Movement and discover how courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion can empower students to navigate challenges, strengthen resilience, and build a safer, more supportive and healthier school community. This framework was created in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy.

Million Minute Reading Challenge, Read Around the Bases & Homework Expectations
Our reading challenge at RPE in conjunction with the PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge is ongoing. At the district level, “The Final Push: Race to the Finish Line” reading challenge is continuing through the end of the school year. Our team name is the Racing Reading Rams! Please continue to complete reading logs with your child or enter your minutes online as we enter this competition against other schools around our district. Additionally, if students read for a minimum of 45 minutes a week and complete their reading log, they will receive 2 tickets to go watch a Wilmington Sharks baseball game on June 1. If at all possible, please take the time to help your child meet this goal and sign your child’s paper reading log or input minutes using the google form each night. We will continue to assist them in filling out the Google Form when they go to media for specials each week if you are unable to do so at home. The PCS Million Minute Reading Challenge Google Form can be found here, RPE Million Minute Reading Challenge, and in Classlink of your child’s computer. Let’s keep reading!
Please continue to support students in completing their adaptive practice in their online Freckle program on their chromebooks throughout the week. Please support your child in completing a total of 45 minutes at home each week in math for grades 2-5 and in reading for grades 3-5. Help guides are linked below:
