The Zephyr Connection
Keeping Lombard families informed.
Check out the Upcoming Events
This Thursday, September 11, we will observe Patriot Day in honor of those who lost their lives and the heroes who responded on September 11, 2001. We invite all students and staff to show their respect and unity by wearing red, white, and blue.
Let’s come together as a Zephyr family to remember, reflect, and show gratitude for the freedoms we share.

Dot Day Sept. 15
🎨 Dot Day – Sunday, September 15 🎨
This year, we’re celebrating creativity, courage, and making your mark in the world!
For Students:
Wear Dots or Something that Represents You.
Decorate your Dot at school to show how you’ll leave your mark this year. Be bold—use drawings, colors, or words that represent YOU!
For Families:
Join in by creating a Family Dot at home! Wear dots (or something that represents you), add sparkles, or get creative together. Families can turn in their Dot to your student's Zephyr Time Teacher,
✨ Wear your dots. Create with confidence. Leave your mark. ✨

Keisha's Birthday Spirit Day
In honor of our beloved secretary, Keisha Harris, we invite all students and families to wear her favorite color purple. Keisha brightened every room she entered with her sparkles, glitter, and endless kindness—so let’s celebrate her life and legacy the way she would have loved.
✨ Wear purple. Add glitter or sparkle. Show kindness. ✨
Together, we’ll honor Keisha and the joy she brought to our Lombard family!

Attendance Matters
Zephyrs Are Powered by Possibilities—And It Starts With Showing Up!
Each school day is a new opportunity for your child to grow, connect, and shine. Strong attendance helps your Zephyr stay on track academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, let’s build the habit of showing up—because when students are present, the possibilities are endless.
Thank you for partnering with us to help every Zephyr thrive!
Please call the Lombard's Front Office to let us know of any absences. 309-973-2004.
Steps taken if you do not make contact with the school:
1. Automated Call: Parents/Guardians will receive an automated call stating your student is not in attendance.
2. Unexcused Absence: The absence will be recorded as "unexcused" if no contact can be made with the family throughout the day.
CHAMPS: Setting the Stage for Zephyr Success
At Lombard, we use CHAMPS to help every student succeed by creating a safe, respectful, and structured learning environment.
CHAMPS stands for:
-
C – Conversation: Can students talk during this activity?
-
H – Help: How do students get help if they need it?
-
A – Activity: What is the task or objective?
-
M – Movement: Can students get out of their seats?
-
P – Participation: What does successful participation look like?
-
S – Success: When all expectations are followed, students are set up for success!
CHAMPS helps students understand what’s expected of them in different classroom situations so they can stay focused, confident, and ready to learn.
Together with families, we’re helping all Zephyrs rise with structure, support, and strong character.
Lombard School-Wide Expectations
Chromebooks
This year students will only use devices at school. We are on eliminating screen time so students will not take chromebooks home this school year.
Student IDs
Students will need to wear their ID's during the school hours. If students are late to school or class, they will be using their ID's. Students also use their ID's for lunch. There is a 1.00 replacement fee.
Hats and Hoods
In order to keep our school as safe as possible and to help staff identify individuals easily, students should not wear headwear with a hood, bill, brim or otherwise that would impede the ability to identify a student. No head coverings unless for religious reasons or for protective hair covering as approved by the Principal.
Lockers and Locks
Students will receive lockers this year with an assigned lock. We will practice at school.
They may decorate the inside, but not the outside.
Breakfast in Homeroom
Students will eat breakfast in their homeroom. When students arrive at 7:15, they can start eating their breakfast. Breakfast is from 7:25-7:50 and then instruction will begin.
School Physicals
Students entering 6th grade must have a school physical and dental exam prior to the state of the school year.
