Hardy Happenings April 13, 2026
Hardy HappeningsApril 13, 2026

Dear Hardy Families,

A huge thank you to the nearly three-quarters of our school community who have already completed the online registration form for the 2026–27 school year ahead of the May 8 deadline. At this time, 276 of our 369 students have completed registration, which is well above the district average, and I truly appreciate your partnership in getting this important paperwork submitted. If you are not sure whether you have completed registration, please reach out to your child’s teacher or our front office.

*Please note that if you have not completed re-registration, you will not be able to access Primetime enrollment.

Mark your calendars for our annual parent social on Friday, April 24, at The Mesa Bar & Grill. No agenda, just a chance to connect with other Hardy families. See below for more information!

Finally, April and May are incredibly busy months at Hardy, with many events and activities happening across campus. We encourage you to check our newsletter regularly, visit our school website for updates, and follow our Instagram pages, HardyOwlsPTA and HardyOwls, for the most current information.

With Gratitude,

Principal Aragon

Grades 3-5 - State Testing Reminder – CAASPP

All testing will take place from approximately 8:00–10:00 AM each day.

To ensure a smooth testing environment, we kindly ask that you avoid scheduling any appointments or absences during this time.

Punctuality is essential. Please plan for the construction on Montezuma!

Students who arrive late will not be allowed to enter their classrooms once testing has started and will need to complete the assessment during a scheduled make-up session.

Here are a few ways you can help your child do their best:

  • Get a full night’s sleep before each testing day

  • Eat a healthy breakfast each morning

  • Arrive on time to school

  • Bring a book to read after finishing the test

  • Encourage a positive mindset and remind them to take their time

Thank you in advance for supporting your child’s attendance and readiness during these important weeks. Please save these dates:

  • 5th Grade CAST (Science): April 20–24

  • 3rd–5th Grade CAASPP ELA: April 27–May 1

  • 3rd–5th Grade CAASPP Math: May 4–8

Let’s help our students feel confident, prepared, and supported!

2026-2027 Re-Registration

SDUSD has a new procedure that requires all students currently enrolled in an SDUSD school to re-register online for the upcoming 26-27 SY. A big thank you to the families who have already logged into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and completed the Student Registration for Next Year.

To complete this process, a family must have an active PowerSchool Parent Portal account. If you need assistance creating an account, please contact our site tech, Ms. Marlene Curtin, at mcurtin@sandi.net so she can assist you. We have also included these helpful how-to guides:

  • How to Create a Parent Portal Account – English, Español

  • (VIDEO tutorial) How to Create a Parent Portal Account – English, Español

Login to the PowerSchool Parent Portal at https://powerschool.sandi.net and select Student Registration for Next Year, from the navigation menu. Please note, reregistration WILL NOT WORK using the Powerschool mobile app.

When completing the online form, families will have the opportunity to indicate if their student will be returning next year or not. If, for some reason, the school or grade shown does not match the San Diego Unified School District school your student will attend next year, please continue to finish the registration and notify your school.

If your student will be returning next year, you will have the opportunity to update your address, phone numbers, and contact information. If your student will not be returning to a school within the San Diego Unified School District, please let us know where your student will attend school next year.

This form must be completed by May 8. Like any new procedure, there will likely be some bumps with implementation, so we recommend families complete the online registration as early as possible, so if you run into any problems, you can contact the school for assistance. Points of contact for support with the online registration form are Ms. Ashley Aguayo (Ms. Francine Montano while Ms. Aguayo is on maternity leave) and Ms. Marlene Curtin. Please do not hesitate to contact them if you have any questions or need assistance.

  • mcurtin@sandi.net

  • FMontano@sandi.net

  • AAguayo@sandi.net

Also please help us spread the word to families in our community that every student in SDUSD must log into PowerSchool and complete the Student Registration for Next Year form. This type of digital registration system is in common in most other district around the county and will help SDUSD ensure we have accurate contact and enrollment information for all our students. Thank you in advance for you help with getting the online registration completed by the May 8 deadline.
