Art in Kindergarten

In kindergarten we have been learning about Gustav Klimt’s “Tree of Life” painting! After creating a collage paper background, students will compare and contrast Klimt’s tree with real trees from around our school. Then they will make their own trees using sharpie and mixed media. Gold paint will accent these masterpieces!

Music in Kindergarten

Kindergarten musicians have been practicing their xylophone skills to the poem 1-2 Buckle My Shoe and the book “There Were Ten in the Bed”. Students learned to sing the musical pattern “Sol - Mi - Do” and play those notes on the xylophones every time we sang “roll over, roll over!”

Library in Kindergarten

We are finishing an author study of Greg Pizzoli before we start learning a little bit about poetry. Each grade will learn something different about poems but kindergarten focuses on rhyming with a reading of The Gruffalo and learning how to sign some of the song that goes with it.

A list has been complied of the Blacklick staff's favorite things. It is important to understand the teachers are not asking for gifts. We know that many parents might want to get their child's teacher a gift and this list is to help you select something the teacher would like. Please do not feel obligated to buy a gift for your child's teachers/staff members. A thoughtful note from you and/or your child at any time of the year is appreciated just as much or more as any gift.
