Empowering Moments
From Superintendent Smith...
There is so much to celebrate across our Falcon Zone elementary schools! Our Hawks, Tornadoes, Bulldogs, and Bulls are off to a fantastic start, and this week we are highlighting just a few of the many ways our elementary teams are creating Engaging Environments, Enhanced Opportunities, and Elevated Instruction for our youngest learners.
At Woodmen Hills Elementary, our Tornadoes are learning that making a difference often starts with serving others. Girl Scouts from Troop 45234 designed and built a new playground bench and created a music garden for students to enjoy during recess. Their commitment to seeing a need, creating a solution, and following through demonstrates Integrity through service, Grit through the time and effort required to complete their projects, and Self-Confidence as they turned their ideas into something that will benefit others.
Our Falcon Elementary Hawks took learning beyond simply finding answers. During a 5th grade science investigation, students used inquiry to explore the physical properties and characteristics of different substances, systems, and measurements. Asking questions, gathering evidence, making observations, and using what they discover to build understanding is Wisdom in action, developing the knowledge and thinking skills that help learners make informed decisions.
At Meridian Ranch Elementary, Mrs. Johnson's Kindergarten students used everyday foods and snacks to explore their sense of taste. As they described and compared their experiences, our youngest Bulldogs were building vocabulary, making connections, and learning to communicate what they were discovering. This hands-on experience is another great example of developing Wisdom through curiosity, exploration, and meaningful learning.
And at Bennett Ranch Elementary, our Bulls came together for their annual Field Day, Booster-Thon, and Color Run! Students challenged themselves, encouraged their classmates, competed with enthusiasm, and celebrated together while the Bull community turned out to cheer them on. We even had our FHS Falcons and FMS Firebirds that attended BRES help facilitate events for our young Bulls. The day was filled with Grit as students pushed through challenges, Networking as they connected and supported one another, and Self-Confidence as they stepped up, participated, and celebrated their accomplishments.
These are just four snapshots of the incredible learning and growth happening across our elementary schools every day. From hands-on investigations and sensory discoveries to service projects and community celebrations, our educators are creating opportunities for students to learn, lead, connect, and grow.
This is our Falcon Zone mission in action: Engaging Environments, Enhanced Opportunities, and Elevated Instruction to Empower all learners to Earn their WINGS!
Through Engaging Environments, Enhanced Opportunities, and Elevated Instruction, we Empower all Learners to Earn their WINGS!
Falcon Zone Staff Recognition
In the Falcon Zone we pride ourselves on having the most incredible staff! We want to give our community a chance to recognize those people that make a difference in our schools and for our students every day! Please let us know who is making a positive impact for your student. Let us know who has gone above and beyond to enhance your experience in our zone. Let us know who is doing an outstanding job!
Every staff member that is recognized will receive a note of recognition and a shoutout in our community newsletter. Staff members include not only teachers but secretaries, administrators, custodial & kitchen staff, paras, etc.
We want to know who is making a difference! Thank you for taking the time to fill out this quick form!
Mrs. Champlin (FMS) - I grateful that my student gets the supports he needs as a student athlete and someone who is fearful of making mistakes. Ms. Champlin gives my student the reassurance to build his self-confidence and also the autonomy in her classroom to feed his aspirations.

2026-2027 Meeting Dates
As we kick off a new school year, we’re excited to continue our Falcon Zone-wide SAC model for a third year! This year, we’re giving our shared work a new name: PIE — Partners in Education. PIE represents the families, staff, students, and community members who come together to support our schools and students. We’ll continue with a brief zone-wide conversation followed by school-specific SAC sessions, creating opportunities to connect, share information, celebrate our schools, and work together to strengthen the Falcon Zone.
