Dear Highlander Community,
As I reflect on the uncertainty of our current political climate, I am reminded of who we are as a community. Our mission calls us to use innovative educational practices as a catalyst for social change, ensuring that ALL children have the opportunities and support they need to reach their full potential. Now, more than ever, we must lean into our shared commitment to activism—standing firm in ensuring that our children are safe, valued, and informed. Despite the challenges that may arise, we remain steadfast in our purpose.
This means we will continue to honor and celebrate the rich diversity within our community. February is Black History Month, and students across both campuses will engage in meaningful learning experiences that uplift Black history, culture, and contributions.
This also means that we will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of your children. We are committed to standing alongside and supporting the families we serve. I deeply appreciate all who attended our community meeting on Thursday evening—your engagement, support, and participation fuel the hope and resilience that define us. This is community.
For those unable to join, we focused on:
✔ Reviewing Highlander’s protocols and procedures regarding ICE-related concerns.
✔ Sharing our plan of action for both campuses.
✔ Providing resources and support for families.
