A Message From Your (Student) Principal
Dear EWS Families,
It has been another wonderful week here at Eames Way School. It was a pleasure seeing so many of you in the building earlier this week for our Trimester 3 Conferences. These conversations are such a vital part of our partnership, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to join us to celebrate your child’s progress and growth. We are also incredibly proud to share that we wrapped up our MCAS testing this week; our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders worked so hard, and we couldn't be more impressed with their effort and focus.
I also want to extend a very heartfelt thank you to our entire community for the incredible outpouring of love and support during Teacher Appreciation and Nurse Appreciation last week. Our staff felt so celebrated and cared for by your kind words and gestures. We truly are lucky to have such wonderful, supportive families in our corner who make this school such a special place to work and learn.
As the weather continues to improve, we are looking forward to preparing our outdoor spaces for more frequent student use. Please join us for our Outdoor Classroom Community Clean-Up this Sunday, May 17th, from 1:00–3:00 pm. Whether you can stay for the entire time or just a little while, your help is greatly appreciated as we get this space ready for the busy spring season ahead.
Thank you for your continued support and for being such an integral part of our community. I hope you all have a relaxing and sun-filled weekend!
Warmly,
Ms. Bishop

Nurse Update
Attention Grade 5 Parents:
Postural screening will be taking place on May 18th during PE class by the nurse. The Department of Public Health guidelines mandate that students in Grades 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are screened annually for scoliosis. If your child is already followed for scoliosis, please let the nurse know. More detailed information will be sent out to 5th grade parents. If you would like your child to opt out of this screening, please send in a note or email to Alison White at awhite@mpsd.org.
Guidelines for return to school after an illness:
Fever over 100 degrees (child must be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of Tylenol or Motrin, to return to school).
Vomiting and/or diarrhea (if your child has had any vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours, they should not return to school).
Diagnosis of communicable disease such as strep throat or conjunctivitis (if diagnosed with a communicable disease and prescribed antibiotics, your child must not return to school until they have been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours. A doctor's note should be brought to school via backpack, emailed to awhite@mpsd.org, or faxed to 339-244-2475.
Reminders as the weather changes:
Hydration: Please be sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day-preferably one that is easily refillable at our refill stations.
Snacks: Please remember to send in a healthy snack for your child everyday.
Clothing: Have children dress in layers-the building can become quite warm, and children can overheat very easily.
Sun safety: Sunscreen must be applied at home before coming to school.
Tick safety: There has been an increase in the prevalence of ticks. Parents should frequently check their children for ticks, especially around the ankles, legs, and head region after coming inside from any outdoor activities.
Spring Cleaning:
As you spring clean, don’t forget that any donations of lightly used clothing would be greatly appreciated by the School Nurse. Any shirts, sweatshirts, and pants(preferably leggings or sweatpants) in sizes 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 would be a welcome addition to the nurses’ collection.
Lunch Menu & Nutrition Update
Breakfast and lunch are free options to all students for the 2025-2026 school year. Please note, breakfast is available upon arrival from 8:35-8:50 am, however, students can also get breakfast during the morning once the school day starts if they skipped breakfast or forgot their snack. For more information, please visit MPSD School Nutrition.
My School Bucks is an online account for families to easily manage and pay for school meals, a la carte items (such as ice cream), etc. These accounts stay with students throughout grades K-12 and funds can be replenished when balances get low. Here's the information from the MPSD Nutrition webpage on how to set up your account - My School Bucks.

Volunteering at EWS
CORI applications need to be redone every few years and we are currently in a three-year cycle covering 2023-2026. All volunteers need to complete a CORI, even if you were approved prior to 2023. Please visit the Front Office to complete a CORI application and provide a copy of your license - it will only take a minutes. Applications are then reviewed by MPSD Central Office, which can take up to a week to process. If you have any questions, please contact Val Quigley (781-834-5090 or vquigley@mpsd.org).
However, to clarify, if you have an approved CORI from last year, it is still valid for this school year!
