Hispanic Heritage Month Recap
Last Friday we celebrated the ending of Hispanic Heritage month at our monthly Panda Assembly. During the assembly we learned about a variety of Hispanic countries and got to see a dance performed by our students and staff member.
News From the World of Art
In October, K-5th grade students made 1 clay project in art class. Kindergarteners made tiles and pressed macaroni noodles in to make textures and designs, 1st grade made clay feathers, 2nd grade made mushrooms, 3rd grade made pumpkins inspired by Yayoi Kusama, 4th grade made monsters using a pinch pot, and 5th grade made custom tic tac toe boards.
Students learned that clay comes from the ground, it can be air dried and then re-moistened to return to the mud state. But after clay has been fired in the kiln it no longer can return to the mud state- it is now stone.
October also brought the end of our time with our student teacher. We wish Ms. Nelson good luck at her High School student teaching placement.
Physical Education Fun
Students in PE class learned about the 5 components of fitness with our student teacher Mr. B. Students focused on different competitive activities that involved strengthening different areas of their body. Students also started a throwing unit where younger students focused on learning how to throw while older students took the throwing and catching skills and implemented them into semi competitive games.
Music Makings
In October, we continued our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month by exploring songs and artists such as Selena, Bad Bunny, Shakira, and Marc Anthony. We also jumped into Fall fun by doing an Autumn Rhythm scavenger hunt, cup passing to Monster Mash, and reading iconic notation with bats and pumpkins (one and two sounds). Some classes also had the opportunity to learn songs from some pre-service teachers from UWW's music department. Upcoming events include the Inaugural Whitewater Choral Festival on November 8th at 3pm in the High School Gym. All of the choirs from 5th grade-12th grade will perform at this special event. Winter Sing is also on the horizon. More info will be coming soon about this performance, but go ahead and mark off December 12th for our favorite winter concert!
November: National Child Safety and Protection Month
November is designated as National Child Safety and Protection Month to raise awareness about potential dangers children face and promote preventive measures. During this month, communities, parents, and caregivers are encouraged to focus on child safety through education, reinforcing safety rules, and updating emergency plans. Key areas of focus include home safety, road safety, water safety, and preventing injuries from accidents, which are a leading cause of death for children and teens.

UW-Whitewater Football Team Visits Lincoln Students
UW-Whitewater football players are great student athletes both on and off the field! Over 20 football players gave up their lunch hour to come to Lincoln and play with all of our students over their lunch recess time. The players and students all had a great time. Thank you to head coach, Jace Rindahl, for supporting his players to give back to our community!
