COUNSELOR'S CORNER SEPTEMBER 2025
The Audubon Counseling Department had a busy and productive September, supporting students across all grade levels as they transitioned into the new school year. Our team assisted students with finalizing schedules and monitored attendance to ensure a successful start for all. We welcomed Pennco Tech Automotive Training Center for an on-campus visit into our senior English Classes, providing students with valuable insight into career-focused programs, and coordinated upcoming college representative visits to give seniors direct access to information about post-secondary opportunities. Counselors also supported the development of a Dual Credit program with Camden County College, and began planning our annual Financial Aid Night (Oct. 27th) and FAFSA Filing Night (Nov. 12th) to assist families in navigating the college funding process. Additionally, we continued to guide seniors through the college planning process, helping them navigate applications, scholarships, and next steps. Classroom visits with 7th-grade students are currently being conducted to support their transition into Audubon Jr-Sr High School. We are also very excited to welcome our new Mental Health Counselor, Ms. O’Donnell, who has begun working with students to promote mental wellness throughout the school.
September was a strong start to the school year, and the Counseling Department remains committed to supporting students and families.
Kelly O’Donnell is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and experienced mental health professional with over 15 years of dedicated service supporting children, adolescents, and families. She holds a Master of Science in Counseling & Clinical Health Psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, with specialized training in treating addiction.
Before joining Audubon School District as the PreK-12 Mental Health Counselor, Kelly served in various clinical and school-based roles including School Social Worker at National Park School for the past 7 years, outpatient therapist at Ellie Mental Health, and Program Supervisor/therapist at Robins’ Nest Inc. (now Acenda Integrated Health). Her work has spanned outpatient therapy, family systems support, trauma-informed care, and community-based services. Kelly specializes in loss/separation, grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, and neurodivergence. Kelly brings a warm, collaborative approach grounded in evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed interventions.
In her new role at Audubon, Kelly is committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for students at all grade levels. She provides individual and group counseling, supports social-emotional learning, partners with families and educators, and helps students build resilience and coping skills for lifelong well-being.
Outside of school, you will find Ms. O’Donnell cheering on her favorite Philly teams, Eagles and Phillies, watching stand-up comedy, hanging with her dog Mary Tyler Moore, and heading to Ventnor in the summers to spend time with her nephew who will be graduating from high school this year.
Congratulations to our 2025-2026 NJ Stars Recipients!
