  • Arrival begins and our doors open at 7:25 AM, and we ask that students are inside the building by then to start their day on time.
  • We do not allow left hand turns into the school from vehicles coming from the Tangle Brush side of Glen Loch Drive (just like like the afternoons).
  • When entering, you will enter through the Glen Loch driveway, not the church driveway. We have students that walk in the morning and it is not safe to loop around like we do in the afternoons.
  • When exiting, buses have specific routes they have to drive, so they may take a left hand turn. All other vehicles will need to take a right hand turn out of Glen Loch onto Glen Loch Drive.
  • When cutting through neighborhoods, please be sure to be respectful and adhere to the posted speed limit signs. This is for the safety of those children who walk to or from school and all other families.
  • Students are considered tardy at 7:55 AM and absent after 9:00 AM.
  • If your child arrives after 7:55 AM, please walk them into the school and sign them in at the front office to ensure they are properly marked.
  • Breakfast is served until 7:55 AM. To ensure your child has time to enjoy their meal, please make sure they arrive on time.

Below are the available options for how your child can get home each afternoon. You’ll choose one primary, consistent mode of transportation and share that choice with your child’s teacher to help ensure a smooth and safe dismissal each day.

Bus Bus

At Glen Loch Elementary, the school bus is the preferred and safest mode of transportation for students. If your home is one mile or more from the school, your child is eligible for bus service.

To register for bus transportation, you will need your child’s student ID number and date of birth.

Use the link below to find your child’s bus number, as well as pick-up/drop-off times and locations.

  • Bus Registration
  • Find Your Bus Route

🕒 Please allow up to 3–5 school days for your child’s route to take effect after registration. At the beginning of the school year, we receive a high volume of route changes, and we truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

📌 Reminder: Bus registration must be completed every school year—even if your child rode the bus the previous year.

Once registered, parents and guardians can track a student's ridership activity for the entire school year or access daily history by registering for the SMART Tag Parent App. Additionally, the app enables parents and guardians to receive notifications regarding bus arrivals. If you would like to learn more information about the District's SMARTtag program, click here.

Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and smooth ride for every Glen Loch Gator!

Car Riders Car Riders

The car line will be longer than usual the first few days of school, so we kindly ask for your patience. Our staff has years of experience running this system, and we promise—it gets quicker each day as students, staff, and families get into the routine.

To our returning families, thank you for your kindness as new parents learn the system. We’re all learning and growing together!

Our car rider system is carefully designed for safety and efficiency, and it’s important that everyone follows the procedures closely.

Please make sure your green car sign is displayed clearly in the front passenger windshield so staff can scan the barcode. If you didn’t attend Meet the Teacher, you may pick up your sign on the first day of school before 2:00 PM.

When scanned, staff will tell you which cone number your child will be waiting at. Please pull all the way forward to your assigned station. We use six stations, and all must be filled to keep the line moving.

If you do not have your green car sign, you’ll be asked to park at the front, go inside with a government-issued ID, and be issued a replacement sign. You may either return to the end of the car line or wait in the front lobby until remaining students are brought to the office at the end of dismissal.

Please be in the car line before 3:30 PM. Dismissal typically ends at that time. If you arrive after staff has cleared the porch, please park, bring your ID to the front office, and sign your child out.

Our afternoon car rider line will extend down Glen Loch Drive and wrap around Panther Creek, following the road along Creekwood Park Lake.

Please be courteous and go all the way to the end of the line. Cutting in line not only disrupts the flow of traffic but also creates safety concerns and delays for everyone. If you attempt to bypass the line, you will be asked to park and enter the building to pick up your child in person.

To keep things running smoothly, make sure your green car tag is clearly displayed in the bottom right corner of your front windshield. A staff member will come by to scan the barcode, which helps us quickly alert your child to head to the correct cone.

Thank you for helping us keep the car line safe, respectful, and efficient for all Glen Loch families!

Daycare Daycare

If your child will be using a daycare for after-school care, please be sure to contact your daycare provider directly to confirm that they offer transportation to and from Glen Loch Elementary.

Not all daycare centers provide transportation services to every school, so it’s important to verify this information before the first day of school to avoid any confusion or delays in your child’s dismissal plan.

Thank you for taking this important step to help ensure a smooth and safe end-of-day transition for your child!

Walkers and Wheels Walkers and Wheels

All walker dismissal will take place at 3:10 PM to help ensure a safe and organized end to the school day. The first few days of school may be earlier, which will be communicated by our school.

Students in Pre-K through 1st grade are considered our "Little Walkers" and must be picked up at Door 5 by an approved adult. These younger students will not be released to walk home on their own.

Students in 2nd through 4th grade are considered "Solo Walkers" and, with a signed parent permission form on file, may walk home independently. Solo Walkers will have two exit options—either through the front or rear of the school.

Pre-K, Kinder and 1st Grade

All walker dismissal will take place at 3:10 PM to help ensure a safe and organized end to the school day.

These students are considered "Front Walkers."

To help ensure a safe and smooth dismissal each afternoon, please review the following expectations:

  • Parents should be in line at 3:10 PM to pick up their child. After 3:20 PM, students will be taken to the front office and parents should pick them up there. Bring the pink pick-up sign or a government-issued photo ID.
  • Parents must present their pink pick-up sign to pick up their child. If you do not have it, you will be directed to the front office to obtain a new one, which will require a government-issued photo ID for verification.

  • Please line up past the pick-up door along the sidewalk. Signage will be in place to help guide you through the process.

  • Children must be supervised at all times. If you bring other children with you during pick-up, please ensure they remain with you and are monitored closely.

  • Be respectful of bus lanes and other families. Let’s work together to keep traffic flowing and our students safe.

  • Once a child has been dismissed, they may not re-enter the building. Please ensure all belongings are gathered before leaving.

  • For safety reasons, students will not be released to older siblings. All students must be picked up by an individuals listed on their authorized pick-up list. Be sure this information is up-to-date with the front office.
  • Please do not park in the rocks next to the bus driveway or on campus if your child is a walker.

We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our dismissal process safe, organized, and efficient for all Glen Loch families!

2nd through 4th Grades

Students who are designated as solo walkers will be released to leave campus on their own at 3:10 PM. To allow your child to walk home independently, a Glen Loch permission form must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Without this signed form on file, your child will not be permitted to leave campus without an approved adult.

Back Walkers: Exit through Door 15 and walk along the sidewalk that is adjacent to our playground towards Creekwood Park.

Front Walkers: Exit through Doors 1 and 3 and walk towards our Bus Driveway, down the path next to the shopping center and towards Tangle Brush Drive.

Please note: Once released, staff will not match students to parents. Walkers will be dismissed to walk home on their own as authorized.

Thank you for helping us ensure all students get home safely and responsibly.

Severe Weather Dismissal Plan

On days when there is severe weather, there will be no walker dismissal. For the safety of all students, walking and biking home will not be permitted during these conditions.

🌧️ What Is Severe Weather Dismissal?

Severe weather dismissal is called when weather conditions are unsafe for students to walk or bike home. Severe weather is defined as lightning within a 10 mile radius. This may include heavy rain, thunder, lightning, or strong winds. Please note: If lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius of the school, we are required to make the decision to call SEVERE WEATHER DISMISSAL. This policy is in place to prioritize student safety and follows district and weather safety guidelines. A decision will be made by 2:45 PM and communicated to families via text message and email.

⏰ Why Do We Wait Until 2:45 PM?

Severe weather in our area can change very quickly. If severe weather dismissal is called too early, the weather often clears up before dismissal begins. We wait to make the call as close to dismissal as possible to ensure it’s the right decision based on the most current conditions.

📞 Should I Call the School?

No need to call the school. If you're unsure of your child's rainy day plan, please reach out to your child’s teacher ahead of time to confirm. Once severe weather dismissal is announced, your child will automatically follow the prearranged backup transportation plan you’ve provided at the beginning of the school year or time of enrollment.

🚶‍♂️ If I'm a Walker/Biker Parent, Can I Walk Up to Pick Up My Child?

If possible, please use the carline for severe weather dismissal. However, if you’ve already walked from a nearby neighborhood or are unable to use the carline, you may come to the front office to pick up your child. To help us dismiss students as quickly and safely as possible, please bring your pink pick-up sign with you. If you do not have your sign, we will kindly ask for your physical (no pictures or copies) driver’s license or another form of government-issued ID before releasing your child. This procedure helps us ensure a smooth, secure, and respectful experience for all families during busy dismissal times. Thank you for your support and cooperation! If dismissal has already begun, we kindly ask that you wait in our foyer due to not enough staff to get students from dismissal rooms.

🪪 Do I Need My Car Rider Sign?

Yes! All parents, Pre-K through 4th grade, must have their pink dismissal sign ready for pick-up during severe weather dismissal.

🚗 If I’m a Car Rider Parent, Can I Walk Up Instead?

No. For everyone’s safety and to keep dismissal running smoothly, car rider parents should remain in their vehicles and follow the regular carline procedure.

⌛ Will Severe Weather Dismissal Take Longer?

Yes—it may take a little more time than usual. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to get every student home safely in inclement weather.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep every child safe, rain or shine!
