From Doan's Desk...
Monarch High School has the opportunity to participate in something powerful. MHS Student Council is partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to offer a “Wish Week” full of opportunities for us to raise money for our Wish Kid, Payton. Payton is 11 years old and has a dream of going on a Disney cruise. Starting on Friday, February 28th through Friday, March 7th there will be a packed schedule full of fundraising activities. Our focus will be doing as much as we can to raise money and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation
What is my “why” for hosting a Wish Week? I believe in the power of community and what we can do together to support others. It is a core value for us at Monarch to demonstrate empathy for others and to then act when given the opportunity to serve.
So how can we make an immediate difference with one simple act? At our opening assembly for Wish Week on Friday, February 28th we will be doing a “Miracle Minute”. The goal is for everyone to bring their spare change and any money they can donate in a single minute. With over 1500 students and staff we hope to be able to raise a significant amount of money by all of us doing something small across the entire community.
Be on the lookout for specific information about our other fundraising events and ways that you can be a part of Wish Week!
