🦅 From the Principal’s Perch 🦅 From the Principal’s Perch

As we head into the final weeks of the school year, it has been wonderful to see so many of our students continuing to stay involved, connected, and engaged both during and after the school day.

Our spring sports season has kept many students busy with track, baseball, softball, and boys and girls lacrosse. At the same time, students have continued participating in a wide variety of clubs and activities including Bee Club, Aviation Club, Play Club, Dungeons & Dragons, Fishing Club, and many others.

When recently looking at student participation, we found that over 320 students are involved in clubs throughout our school community. While many students participate in multiple activities, that number is still incredibly impressive and speaks volumes about our school community.

A huge thank you goes out to our coaches, advisors, and staff members who give their time and energy long after the school day ends. Their commitment creates opportunities for students to build friendships, discover interests, gain confidence, and feel connected to school. The positive impact they have on students each day does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for helping make Overlook a place where students can truly thrive.

1st Day School Supplies📚 1st Day School Supplies📚

Dear Overlook Middle School Families,

As we begin preparing for another exciting school year, we know summer can be a busy time for families. To help make back-to-school shopping easier, our 1st Day School Supplies store is now open!

This program allows families to purchase teacher-approved supply kits in one convenient order. Each kit includes the exact supplies requested for your child’s grade level, saving you time and eliminating the stress of searching store to store.

Simply select your child’s grade and place your order. Supplies will be delivered before the start of school so students are ready for a successful first day.

There is peace of mind in knowing your child will arrive prepared and ready to learn, and we hope this option makes the transition back to school a little smoother for your family.

Inclusion Club Recruitment

This week, students helped recruit members for next year’s Inclusion Club by sharing messages about kindness, belonging, and creating a school community where every student feels “heard, included, and supported.” Lily Bard and Norah Duval spoke about how the club is “more than just meetings, activities, free food, and getting out of class,” describing it instead as “a community” where students and staff come together to support one another and make OMS a better place for everyone.

They shared how the club helps students build friendships, confidence, leadership, and teamwork while creating a more positive and welcoming environment throughout the school. Lily also reminded students that “every voice, every student, and every opinion deserves to be heard.”

Will Bodurtha and Michael Caitlin also visited PALS groups to share a similar message and encourage students to get involved next year.

We are incredibly proud of the leadership, compassion, and positivity these students showed while representing the Inclusion Club and helping build a stronger OMS community.

🚀 Fly Higher Tip 🚀 Fly Higher Tip

Summer is the perfect time to build strong reading habits! Even 15–20 minutes of reading a day can help students maintain skills, reduce summer learning loss, and discover new interests. Let your child choose books, magazines, graphic novels, or audiobooks they truly enjoy, reading for fun still counts!
