MTSS Lead Weekly Updates
Week of October 21
On Target for Success
Urgent Action Needed!
Please check your school folders to ensure that your documents are reflected accurately. I've noticed a couple of school folders have been deleted completely and also others where there is missing information. This is critical for me as it informs me in what is taking place within your schools.
Your folder should include at minimum:
- CSRS tracker
- School Data Team Roster
- Data Team Schedule
- Data Team Agenda and Minutes
- Fall Written Expression (grades K-6) and Encoding/Spelling (grades 4-6) scores
iReady Family Access
Students and families can access iReady at home using the student login information. Using the student log in information, the parents/caregivers can review Diagnostic results and track student progress. The quick reference guide is available in the On Target for Success SharePoint and linked below for you to download and share.
Scaffolds and Access Points
Did you know that the primary purpose of Tier 2 and 3 instruction and intervention is to return students to seeing success in Tier 1 instruction? Last week TDOE hosted a Community of Practice where they presented tips on Intervention and Tier 1 Cohesion. The recording will be available at a future date (not shared) if you would like to review it.
We need grade level standards, high quality instructional materials, and student engagement in order to realize student achievement.
However, one of the suggestions was about using the Tier 1 curriculum to provide scaffolds and access points for students where teachers can bridge back to connect learning and expand opportunities for practice. Many teachers are aware that these lie in the margins in the Teachers Editions and do use them. If not or if teachers are at a loss for what to provide to students this is a great place to look.
Look for more information from me in the future to build cohesion between Tier 2 and 3 intervention and Tier 1 instruction.
Pearson and PCG Tickets
We remain under a data quality alert though additional progress was made last week. In speaking with TDOE this is a broader issue that is being addressed by many. Please continue to review data individually by student to check.
Q&A
Should I complete a new SLA each month for grade level progress monitoring?
No, you complete one grade level SLA initially and then schedule monthly for the duration of the school year where you will then progress monitor monthly.
When a student withdraws from the school should I submit a TNPulse Inactivation request?
Yes, please help me to keep our data quality high by informing when students withdraw by completing a TNPulse inactivation request and emailing it to RTI2@scsk12.org. This will allow me to inactivate the student from TNPulse if they are no longer enrolled in MSCS and/or ensure that the school association is accurate.
October Professional Learning
Change of Offering
The iReady Digital Literacy Task offering has been changed. This will be offered on the November 5th DLD at three different times for MTSS Leads only. Sessions will be virtual and capped at 100 participants. There will be future offerings for teachers, leaders, and SEAs who do not serve as MTSS Leads to support with the new platform which remains on schedule to launch 10/27/24.

Molly's Great Discovery
Have you heard the book Molly's Great Discovery? This is a great text to share with young readers. Victoria Brinkley from Communications recorded this read aloud and it was posted over the weekend on MSCS social media pages. Check it out if you missed it.
