November Activity November Activity

Eta Chapter held it's November meeting online, through Zoom, on Monday, November 9, 2020. Chrystal Matthews, from the Gonzales chapter of the Lions Club, was our guest speaker. She gave us a great deal of wonderful information about the Lions Club and their service projects.

Thank you Pam for arranging for Chrystal to speak with us!

Christmas Book Reading Christmas Book Reading

The Cub Corner – This is the Lions Club's online reading program. ADK, Lion members and special guests will be reading Christmas stories that will be uploaded to the Lions YouTube Channel.

These stories will be available for everyone’s enjoyment on their website & YouTube Channel. It's easy to participate. Just choose a story that is in the public domain (no copyright infringement). Turn your phone sideways and record your reading. Be creative, dress up, read with your kids or grandkids or a pet/stuffed animal, etc. Send a text or call Pam at 225-603-3378. She will advise you on how to upload them. Here is a link to public domain stories you might like to read. Any titles are acceptable as long as they are in the public domain. The Ascension Parish Public Library can assist if you have questions.

Gonzales Lions are thankful for your friendship with the Christmas book readings. Pam posted info on our Facebook to allow people to choose/reserve their book title. Please scroll though the link and choose your favorite and commit to it on the Gonzales Lions Facebook Page - or text Pam at 225-603-3378 and I’ll reserve it for you. Please record & submit soon so they can schedule your release date!!!
Event Information

December Meeting- "Cozy Christmas at Home"

Everyone will need to check their email 30 minutes before the start of the meeting that will give the details for our "surprise" activity. You will be creating something specific (and easy) from items that you have on hand at home already. You will have 30 minutes between the email and the start of the meeting to prepare the creation. It will be fun to see everyone's creations!

After we share our creations, our next activity will be "Cozy Christmas at Home." Each member will share/show one of the following:

a favorite ornament

a favorite Christmas recipe

a super quick craft

your Christmas tree or other decorated area of your home .

If you do a quick craft or a recipe, please email the directions to me, so I can send them out to everyone in case they want to give it a try.

Also, we are going to be collecting food for the food bank in partnership with the Ascension Parish Lions Club. Pam is checking to see if specific types of food are needed. More info will be sent when we find out.

The virtual walk took place on September 26th.

Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank

At every meeting, each sister is expected to wear her Alpha Delta Kappa badge. If you forget to wear it, you should donate at least $1.00 to the "pot", which will be donated to the food bank in addition to donations from members that will be collected in November and March.

We Need Your Help!

Because we will not be able to have our annual auction to raise funds for our altruistic projects, we need to find other ways. If you have any ideas, please let our officers know!

Proposed Meeting Schedule

Some suggestions submitted for meeting ideas include an outdoor meeting at Jeanie's, a heart health awareness meeting in Feb., something to support small businesses, yoga, craft, healthy week night meal ideas with a chef or dietitian, Lions Club speaker, and improving personal appearance on a budget. We will discuss these great ideas during our planning meeting. If you can arrange one of these or have a lead on someone that could be a guest presenter, let Stacey know.

Meetings for January-May will be set up at a later date as the climate of the COVID-19 pandemic changes.
