Principal's Message
SES Families,
It is so crazy to think we are almost done with another school year. As I sit here reflecting on this past year, I am blown away by all the ways the students have grown this year! Students who came in with limited English are now having conversations with peers. Students who were new to us have made strong friendships and play together at recess. All students have grown academically and are more equipped to move into next year.
Each grade level is unique. As we wrap up this year, please be sure to ask your students what their favorite parts of this year were. I think you will find that there are too many to choose from!
Next week, we have Rocket Day on Monday and Awards Day on Tuesday. The perfect ending to a great year! Awards Day program times are listed below. We hope everyone will join us as we celebrate the close of the year!
Awards Program Times:
9:30-Second Grade
11:15-Fourth Grade
1:30-First Grade
2:35-Third Grade
6:00-Fifth Grade Graduation Ceremony
Have a great weekend everyone!
Ms. Witkemper
9:30-Segundo Grado
11:15-Cuarto Grado
1:30-Primer Grado
2:35-Tercer Grado
6:00-Quinto Grado Ceremonia de Graduación
¡Tengan un maravilloso fin de semana!
Ms. Witkemper
Next stop ... RETIREMENT!
On Monday, we celebrated the upcoming retirements of Maureen Cole, Nan Murphy, and Marcia Casey. Maureen Cole has 29 years of service to Perry Township Schools. Nan Murphy has 23 years of service to Perry Township Schools and 33 years in education. Marcia Casey has 34 years of service to Perry Township Schools.
These three educators have had an impact on the lives of so many students and families over the years. We wish them well in retirement, but will definitely miss them.
Thank you for everything! We will miss you all so very much!
We also want to thank our social committee for planning such a great event for our retirees, their families, and friends.
1st Annual Perry Township Youth Track Meet!
Perry Township hosted its first ever youth track meet! It was a great time!
Congratulations to all of our students who participated!
SES PTA Needs YOU!!!
A school's PTA creates a village that helps to raise our kids and strengthen our community. It also links families to important school and community information.
We are so thankful to have such a supportive and hard working PTA in our village! You have helped sponsor movie nights, skating parties, breakfast with Santa, fifth grade graduation, Teacher Appreciation Week, and more! You all are amazing, and we are so appreciative of your dedication!
The PTA has board positions open for next year and would like to increase its membership.
If you would like more information, please contact Andrea Gasaway at agasaway@perryschools.org
If you have an interest in joining PTA or having a board position, please plan to attend the first PTA meeting next year.
Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
Please join us for this year’s SENIOR WALK on Wednesday, May 24th.

Celebrating Reading!
At SES, we love to read, and our students rocked Reading Counts this year! Our Reading Counts leaders earned a combined total of 4,003 points! As a school, our students earned 36,702. Congratulations to all who participated and a special shout out to David Pau Khai and Betsy Iang who were our top 2- and the only students to earn over 500 points this year.
To celebrate our readers, Miss Lacefield hosted parties
where kids got to enjoy sunshine, games and friends!
Thank You Student Council!
Student Council members enjoyed their awards day and party!. Mr. Loveless and Mrs. Applegate thank these students for being terrific representatives of our school. They have been our most active student council yet as they planned our school’s 60th birthday celebration, participated in the SHS Homecoming parade, shopped at Kohl’s for the holiday season, organized a clothing drive for our school nurse, planned multiple spirit weeks, and more!
They got to enjoy a Chick-fil-A nugget tray along with donuts and cookies. Each student also received end of the year awards. These students will be missed, but we know they’ll do great things as 6th graders next year!
