ELA Testing- Graduation Requirement
10th Grade ELA Testing Information-Graduation Requirements
The FAST Grade 10 ELA Assessment is the required assessment for graduation purposes for students who enters grade 9 . Students must earn a passing Grade 10 FAST ELA Reading score in the third progress monitoring window (PM3) to meet this graduation requirement. All students enrolled in grade 10 are required to participate in the grade 10 ELA assessment regardless of whether they have a passing concordant score on file. Because all FAST assessments are computer-adaptive, items may become progressively harder as students successfully respond to items and easier if students answer more questions incorrectly. FAST assessments are administered three times during each school year: once at the beginning of the year (PM1), once in the middle of the year (PM2), and once at the end of the year (PM3).
Here are descriptions of each PM opportunity for students:
*PM1- Beginning of the school year, designed to provide a baseline score so teachers can track student progress in learning
*PM2 – Mid-year score to compare to the baseline score from PM1.
*PM3 – Summative score that will accurately measure student mastery of the B.E.S.T. Standards. This is the score that will count for graduation requirements.
Grade 10 ELA (PM 1/2) Reading 90 Minutes & (PM 3) 120 Minutes
Math Testing- Graduation Requirement
The B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 EOC- students must pass to graduate with a standard high school diploma is determined by when students completed Algebra 1 or an equivalent course. Students are required to pass the B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 EOC Assessment. Students enrolled in Algebra 1 or an equivalent course are required to participate in the Algebra 1 EOC assessment, regardless of whether they have a passing comparative score on file. A student can also meet assessment graduation requirements by earning a concordant or comparative score. Please see below for which concordant and comparative scores students may use to satisfy assessment graduation requirements.
If a student is pursuing a Scholar Diploma Designation, they must earn a passing score on each of the statewide EOC assessments shown below.
