5 Things to Know about the New FAFSA

  1. The 24-25 FAFSA application will not open until December of 2023.
  2. Students and contributors (formally known as parents) will need to create a FSA ID before starting the FAFSA.
  3. Everyone contributing information on the FAFSA will be required to give consent to transfer their tax information from the IRS, even non-filers.
  4. There will be a process for undocumented parents to create a FSA ID. Details should be coming this Fall.
  5. More students are expected to be eligible for Pell Grants under the new Student Aid Index (SAI) as compared with the old EFC.
