Calling All Heroes!
Walteria Elementary school will be celebrating Veteran’s Day on November 11th, 2024. Following our day of observance, Walteria will participate in a week of activities to educate students to the sacrifice and bravery of not only Veterans (and active duty members), but all heroes in our community including, but not limited to: doctors, nurses, firefighters, police officers, and community workers.
To further celebrate and enrich the learning, we are looking for local heroes to speak to our students regarding perseverance. On Friday, November 15th, we are inviting interested heroes to join us in a day of learning and celebrating. Please contact clifford.christina@TUSD.org if interested for more information.
Thank you,
Walteria Heroes Week Committee

i-Ready Parent Access
Students were administered the i-Ready assessment in both Reading and Math at the beginning of this school year. This diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that identifies students’ strengths and opportunities for growth, which is important information for teachers as they work with students throughout the school year. Please click below for a more detailed description of how to access your child’s i-Ready report (through their i-Ready login on Clever) and what the information in the report means.

Building Bridges: Sponsor a Family for the Holidays
As the holiday season approaches, some families in our community face challenges that make this time of year especially difficult. For students experiencing homelessness or in foster care, the holidays can feel overwhelming and isolating.
Your generosity can provide not just gifts, but the warmth of connection and the joy of being seen and valued. Join us in making a difference—your sponsorship can transform lives. Let’s create a brighter holiday for those who need it most.
REMINDER! Metro Go Passes are now available for all students!
Our Board of Education voted to extend the free Metro GoPass program for a second year, and we are proud to offer this benefit to all our students. The program includes a Metro TAP (Transit Access Pass) card that offers FREE unlimited rides on Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) bus rail and subway lines, including Torrance Transit, Long Beach Transit, Culver CityBus, Gardena Transit (GTrans) and LADOT Dash.
If your child has a TAP card from last year, you will just need a new code, which you can pick up from our school office. We also have a stock of TAP cards for new riders or those who lost their old cards. New cards will need to be activated before being used. For more information, visit https://www.tusd.org/administrative-services/metro-gopass.
