The Bobcat Bulletin
Welcome Back to School 2025-2026!
December 13, 2025
đź’ś A Message from Michelle Britton đź’š
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for the morning and afternoon singalong. A big thank you as well to Mr. Fisher and his student teacher Ms. Kyle for leading both concerts. Their hard work and enthusiasm really made the performances special.
As you arrived, you walked through the courtyard display of our students’ Winter Candle projects. Over the past few weeks in the library, students have been learning about different winter holiday traditions and created luminary bags that reflect their own family celebrations. We hope you enjoyed seeing their artwork and were able to bring your child’s Winter Candle home.
Spirit Week begins on Monday, which also happens to be the sixty seventh day of school. With the “six seven” phrase that has been circulating among students, we expect the timing will get a few reactions as the week begins.
Spirit Week will kick off with Festive Feet Day on Monday. Tuesday is Rink Ready Day, when students can choose a winter athlete, figure skater, or cozy rink fan look. Wednesday is Holiday or Winter Hat Day, Thursday is Freeze Frame Day with everyone wearing a single color, and Friday is Favorite Holiday Sweater Day. We are looking forward to a fun week together.

Holiday Concert & Sing-Along
MLK School Wide Day of Service
Our annual Day of Service is a meaningful opportunity for our entire school community to come together and support others in a spirit of kindness and generosity. Collections will start after winter break. As we look ahead to the new year, I am excited to share that our Day of Service will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026. This day has truly become a special tradition at Indian Lane, and every year I am reminded of how generous and enthusiastic our school community is. The impact we have made together is remarkable, and I know this year will be just as meaningful.
As in previous years, each grade level will take part in its own service project. These activities are designed to help our students learn empathy, compassion, and the importance of giving back. Holding our Day of Service just before Martin Luther King Jr. Day gives us a wonderful opportunity to honor Dr. King’s legacy and reflect on his belief that “everybody can be great, because anybody can serve.”
We will share more details in next week’s bulletin, including what items each grade level will be collecting, a sign up link, and a wish list to make donating easy. Some grade levels will also be looking for volunteers. Please keep an eye out for that email, and thank you in advance for your support.
Outdoor Recess Reminders
This is a friendly reminder that we go outdoors for recess as often as the weather allows. With the colder weather we have been experiencing, please make sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately. Please also label all items your child brings to school, including coats, hats, gloves, lunchboxes, and other belongings, to help us keep items organized and easily identifiable.
Handbook Highlight-Toys from Home
“Electronic games and trading cards, etc. may be accessed on the school bus, but must remain in the student’s backpack during the school day. These are distracting to the education process and are easily damaged or lost. The school shall not be responsible for the loss, damage, or misuse of any personal items brought to school.
Please note: This includes recess. Students may not take toys, trading cards (such as Pokémon cards), or similar items out during recess to play or trade. These items must stay in backpacks for the entire school day.”
Message from the Nurse, Mrs. LaRose
Check for Head Lice at Home Regularly
Parents and caregivers are reminded to check their student's head periodically for lice and if they notice itching. Classrooms are not screened for lice. You can contact the school nurse at 610-627-7104 for guidance if you are uncertain or if you discover lice/nits.
Holiday Support and Resources for Families
With the fall and winter holidays upon us, I wanted to take a moment to reach out and let families know that there are some resources available for those who may need a little extra support during this time. We have a few programs that can help in various ways, so please contact me to learn more! You can reach me by email at jhilden@rtmsd.org or by phone at 610-627-7103.
Additional District Resources and Ways to Give Back
There are several wonderful ways through Rose Tree Media to support Indian Lane families this season:
-
Delaware County Food Bank Donations – A wonderful resource that provides a list of local donation sites for non-perishable food items.
-
Circle of Giving – Originally created at the start of the pandemic, this organization continues to support RTMSD families with essentials such as food, paper products, and hygiene items. Donations go directly to Ms. Martinez (School Social Worker) and Ms. Dacanay (Home and School Visitor), who distribute them to families in need.
If you have any questions, please contact:
Ms. Dacanay – bdacanay@rtmsd.org
Ms. Martinez – cmartinez@rtmsd.org
A Message from Mr. Ralph Harrison
