A Note from Mrs. Stefanich
Hello Park Families,
I hope you are all settling into our school routines. My family and I seem to fly by the seat of our pants at the beginning of the school year, but are finally settling into our weekly schedules. I hope you are all finding time together each day to reflect on the things that were able to Spark joy for your day. This is a great way to pull our school theme into your family conversations as well!
Spark Joy
Our Spark Joy wall continues to grow! Feel free to continue to send in those pictures of what Sparks Joy for your child! Students and teachers alike are enjoying seeing our sweet student faces on the temporary wall in our hallway.
Morning Drop Off
If you are dropping off your child in the morning, we encourage you to use the drop off loop or sidewalk at the front of the school. If you choose to drop your child at the back of the school (by the Hughes Park parking lot) we ask that you say goodbye to your child at the edge of the playground. Our playground supervisors have the important job of keeping our students safe on the playground. When we have families walking their children through the playground and around the sidewalk on the South end of the building, it can feel complicated. I ALWAYS want our families to feel welcome at school, but I do not want to have to ask playground supervisors to distinguish between our parents and community members walking through who may or may not have a cleared background check. In an effort to keep our students as safe as possible, we request that only school staff walk through the playground and around the sidewalk on school property between 8:35 and 3:45. Thank you for understanding and I'm sorry for any inconvenience.
Social Media
Last year I attempted to update an Instagram page with pictures of what is happening at Park Elementary. My attempts quickly fizzled out - although not on purpose. I just got busy! This year, I'd like to give it another attempt, so that you can see the great learning, friendships, and growth happening in our school. Please give me feedback, if you'd like, on if you enjoy seeing these posts or not. If you'd like to follow along, check out on Instagram @hps_park or on Facebook at Park Elementary Hudsonville.
Bridges Math and Number Corner

Growth Mindset Statement for August and September:
This month, our growth mindset Statement is "The Power of Yet!" Our teachers help our students to focus on the idea that we aren't expected to be good at everything immediately. We also don't learn at the exact same pace. Something that is easy for you might take me a little more practice. This is all normal and okay, and worth celebrating! You might not be able to tie your shoes, but when you add the word YET to the end, you are empowered. You just can't tie your shoes YET. I encourage you to use this language at home with your family as well!
This month, I shared a read aloud with the teachers to show if they'd like. As I was recording the video, my daughter asked if she could read it aloud. So if you'd like to enjoy a Power of Yet read aloud at home too, please check out this link.
