From The Principals Desk

Hello Families,

Thank you for a great start to our school year. The students and staff are working hard at creating a sense of community in their classrooms and the entire school. Just this past Monday, we started our small reading groups with the support of our title staff. During this time, our kids are working on exactly what they need. We call this time WIN (What I Need). We are providing that same support in math. Please know that our staff is committed to helping your child thrive everyday.

  • elastic waisted shorts and pants (for potty, spilled milk and mud puddle accidents)
  • tissues
  • child sized hangers (for lost and found)
  • papertowel

The Young 5s and Kindergarten classes had a great time at Gull Meadow Farms. They learned about apples and pumpkins, got to go on a hayride and visited with the farm animals. They also got a delicious donut and cider treat. The Young 5s and Kindergarten classes had a great time at Gull Meadow Farms. Student Of The Month

Every month, classroom teachers and support staff choose a student to be honored as “Student of the Month.” As part of the celebration, your child will take part in the Student of the Month Lunch with the principal and their teacher. They will also receive a certificate and a letter home congratulating them on their outstanding accomplishments. We look forward to our first Student of the Month Lunch on October 21st.

Hungry Howies Fundraiser

We are doing a Hungry Howies Fundraiser to raise funds for playground equipment.

  • 3rd Monday of every month
  • order from Hungry Howies on Gull Road any time of day
  • give them your teacher's name
  • class with the most orders wins a pizza party

We get 10% of their sales from that day if we have 10% of our families place an order. So we need 32 families to order from Hungry Howies the 3rd Monday of the month then we get 10% of their sales from the entire day.

Our first fundraiser day is Monday, October 17th.

Lost And Found

There is a large pile of lost and found already! It would be a huge help if you put your child's name on all of their stuff. Lost and found is hung up and available for the kids to look through. We try and donate it once a month so that we don't have such a pile. Before we donate it we take all the students past it and have them look through it. Parents are welcome to look through it any time, so feel free to come in and check it out. The book fair would be a good opportunity for families to look through it, we will probably donate everything after that.

SRSD

Central Elementary is part of a research study to look at how well SRSD (Self-Regulated Strategy Development) supports teachers’ writing instruction and student writing, academic achievement, and writing attitudes for students in Grades 1 through 5.

If you DO NOT want your child to be a part of this study, then please follow the instructions in the attached link.
