Parent Message - October 23rd
A Message from Ms. Shofner
Selman Families,
Last week, we held our class and House meetings, and it was wonderful to celebrate the many students who are working hard and achieving their goals! It was also exciting to see our Tigers connect with other students from their Houses and continue building a strong sense of belonging across our campus.
Thank you for supporting our students, celebrating their progress, and partnering with us each step of the way. Together, we are building a stronger Selman—one day and one child at a time.
Have a wonderful weekend!
We are all Sealy Tigers, and we never stop growing! No opting out! 🐯

❤️ Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is next week! We look forward to celebrating with fun dress-up days as we encourage our Tigers to make healthy, positive choices. Please review the flyer below for each day’s theme.
🎃 Halloween Costumes: Students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on Friday, but they will not be allowed to wear masks or bring props such as swords, shields, etc. Inflatable costumes will not be allowed. Students should have minimal face paint and not paint their entire face. Students in our younger grade levels should wear costumes that they are able to adjust on their own so that they can still be independent when going to the restroom (i.e. no zippers in the back of onesie type costumes). All students will also be going to recess and possibly PE so they need to have/bring appropriate tennis shoes.
🍂 PTA Fall Festival: Join us this Friday for our PTA Fall Festival! Bring the whole family and enjoy food, games, face painting, a costume contest, and other fun activities.
Please see the flyer below for additional details
🦃 Thanksgiving Feast Visitor Check-In: For the safety of our students and staff, we are updating the visitor check-in process for our Thanksgiving Feast. All adults who plan to eat Thanksgiving lunch with their child must be screened through our Raptor Visitor Management System and receive a visitor badge.
To help streamline the process and reduce wait times, please complete the attendance form below if you plan to attend. Parents and guardians who do not complete the form in advance will be required to check in through the front office and receive a visitor badge before entering the cafeteria.
Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe while making this a special celebration for our students and families!

🚗 Morning Drop-Off Safety Reminder: Please use the designated car rider line when dropping off your child each morning. This is the safest way to ensure students enter the building securely.
Please do not pull into the parking lot and allow your child to walk across the drop-off lanes. Crossing through moving traffic—especially during our busy morning arrival—is a serious safety hazard.
Thank you for following our arrival procedures and helping us keep every child safe!
Character Strong: This month, we are focusing on gratitude—recognizing and appreciating the people and positive things in our lives. Families can support this at home by encouraging children to express thanks, show appreciation through their actions, and reflect on something they are grateful for each day. Together, we can help our Tigers develop grateful hearts!

PTA: Spirit ribbons will be sold by the PTA for $1 each in the cafeteria on home game Fridays, between 7:45 AM and 8:15 AM.
