Dress Code Policy
Please review both documents below to prepare for your back-to-school shopping. Ensuring your child is in full dress code helps create a positive and productive learning environment for all. Violations of the dress code policy will result in disciplinary consequences. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
School Uniforms
All students, grades K-12 are required to wear a school uniform. Below is information on Risse Brothers Uniform store and location.
Risse Brothers
Student uniforms should be purchased from Risse Brothers. They moved on April 22nd, 2025, so please make sure you go to the correct location. Should you need any additional information, visit www.rissebrothers.com or reach out directly to the Risse Brothers location: 407-554-2253.
Drop Off and Dismissal Video
To continue to improve our drop-off and dismissal process, Mr. Deas has created a helpful video for our families. We encourage all parents and guardians to take a few minutes to watch the video and review the procedures.
A well-organized carline ensures that students get to and from school safely and helps keep traffic moving quickly for everyone. Thank you for doing your part to support a safe and efficient dismissal process!
Lynx Campus Traffic Patterns
Drop-Off/Pick-Up Procedures
To ensure a smooth and efficient drop-off and pick-up process, kindly adhere to the following guidelines:
- Drop-off Time: Our student drop-off process begins promptly at 7:00 AM, with the designated drop-off point at the cafeteria door. At 7:30 AM, we will open the drop-off door to accommodate more students.
- Drop-off Lane Closure: It's important to note that at 7:54 AM, the drop-off lanes will be closed. If you arrive after this time, parents and guardians must sign their students in at the front desk. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
- Class Start Times: Our 8th-grade classes will commence at 7:54 AM, while 7th grade classes will begin at 8:00 AM. Ensuring that your child is in their classroom at the appropriate time will ensure a smooth start to their academic day.
- Traffic Flow: Please remember to use both lanes around the school building for drop-off and pick-up. This will create a one-way loop and streamline the process.
- Drop-off Procedure: As you approach the drop-off area, remind your student to be prepared to exit the vehicle safely. Pull up all the way to the front to drop off, allowing the line to move faster.
- Dismissal Times: To prevent any delays, we kindly ask that you refrain from arriving on campus before the designated dismissal times. Dismissal times are as follows:
- 8th Grade classes: 2:48 PM (1:47 PM on Wednesdays)
- 7th classes: 2:52 PM (1:53 PM on Wednesdays)
- PikMyKid: Announce your arrival using the PikMyKid app during dismissal. Pull forward when there is an open space in front of your vehicle. This helps other students see their rides and reduces delays. Information on how to register is below.
- Carline Safety:
- Please refrain from exiting your vehicle when in the carline. This includes siblings.
- We urge you not to drop off or pick up students on Lynx Lane or park at neighboring businesses at any time.
- Avoid stopping in the middle lane for student pick-up, as this lane is designated for exits only.
- The speed limit is 4 miles per hour.
- Please stop for students crossing
- Aftercare Program: Our commitment to the safety and well-being of our students extends beyond the school day. With that in mind, we want to inform you that the school will be closed at 4:00 PM. Any students who remain on campus after this time must be registered in our aftercare program.
- Payment Plans and Registration: We understand that each family's needs are unique, which is why we offer various payment plans for our aftercare program. Whether you're seeking daily, monthly, or annual options, we have a plan that suits your preferences. Details on the available payment plans and how to register your students can be found below.
- Important Procedure: If a student is on campus after 4:00 PM and is not registered for aftercare, our protocol requires us to contact the parents or guardians. If we are unable to locate parents or guardians, and make suitable arrangements by 4:15 PM, we may have to involve the authorities to ensure the students' safety. The safety and care of our students remain our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
What is Delayed Dismissal? 30/30 Rule?
The “30/30 Rule" is a Delayed Dismissal Weather procedure that is nationally recognized. It is required that the “30/30 Rule” be enacted by the school if thunder is heard within 30 seconds of a lightning strike. Orlando Science Middle/High follows this rule.
When 30/30 Rule is implemented, students will not be dismissed until 30 minutes has passed from the last sound of thunder. However, parents/guardians who wish to pick up their child/children during delayed dismissal, will be allowed to sign out their child/children at the cafeteria or front office.
In order to pick up your student(s) from the cafeteria or front office during this procedure, parents/guardians must bring their dismissal sign to the front door of the school to sign their child/children out. If you do not have a dismissal sign, you will need to provide a picture ID and be on the school pick-up list to pick-up the child/children. Bus riders will be delivered home when conditions are all safe for dismissal.
An automated telephone and/or email message will be used to notify parents/guardians about delayed dismissals. Always be sure to update the school when your phone or email information changes. Thank you for your cooperation on our students’ safety.

Student Fee and Technology Insurance Fee
Parents and Guardians,
Please click below to pay the annual student and technology fees for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
Each student will be provided with a school issued Chromebook for use both on and off-campus, empowering them with 24/7 access to valuable educational resources and tools. The Chromebooks will serve as a powerful learning tool, promoting creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills among our students. To cover the cost of these items and ensure a seamless distribution process, an annual student fee of $25, plus a technology insurance fee of $50, is required for each student.
What's Included:
- Chromebook: A Chromebook will be assigned to your child, allowing them to complete assignments, access digital textbooks, engage in online research, and work collaboratively with their peers.
- Student Locker: Each student will receive a locker to store their belongings, ensuring a safe and organized environment throughout the school day.
- Student ID: The student ID will provide access to various school resources and facilities, as well as serve as identification during school events.
- PikMyKid Access: This valuable tool will be used for digital hall passes, dismissal announcements, and important messages.
- Chromebook Damage Insurance Policy: This policy will cover accidental damage to the Chromebook, such as spills, drops, and other unforeseen incidents. With the insurance, you can rest assured that any necessary repairs or replacements will be covered, minimizing any potential financial burden.
We strongly encourage all families to complete the required payment as soon as possible to help ensure a smooth distribution process. This will allow students to begin using their Chromebooks and lockers starting on the first day of school.
Please note that the signed technology agreement must be submitted at the time of Chromebook distribution. Be sure to read the agreement carefully and bring the signed copy with you on your scheduled pick-up day.
Additional details regarding Chromebook pick-up dates and times will be shared in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your continued support—we’re looking forward to an extraordinary academic year ahead!

FORTIFYFL APP
See the important message below regarding FortifyFlorida:
Any student, educator, parent or member of the public can report school safety concerns directly to law enforcement and school administrators anonymously and easily through the FortifyFL app or www.getfortifyfl.com. The Florida Legislature directed this tool’s development in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.
The app, which is available for download on Apple and Android mobile devices, is critical to ensuring all Florida schools are safe environments where students and educators can experience and share the joy of learning without fear.
We hope that you will become familiar with this tool and help us spread the word about it with your students and their families. Please note that the official app’s logo will look exactly as it does in the graphic above.
It's important to understand the potential consequences for anyone making a threat or false report concerning school or school personnel’s property, school transportation, or a school sponsored activity, including disciplinary actions that may occur at school and possible criminal charges. Information concerning criminal charges must include a summary of Sections 790.162, 790.163, 836.10 and 837.05, F.S., and the penalties for violating those statutes.
Summaries of State Statutes:
790.162 – A bomb threat with intent to do bodily harm or cause property damage is a second degree felony and punishable in accordance with Florida law.
790.163 – Making a false report of a bomb threat is a felony of the second degree and punishable in accordance with Florida law.
836.10 – Communication of a written or recorded threat to do bodily harm, in any form including posting on social media, is a felony of the second degree and punishable in accordance with Florida law.
837.05 – Knowingly making a false report to law enforcement may be a first degree misdemeanor or a felony depending on applicable circumstances and is punishable in accordance with Florida law.
We need your help to make sure students understand that submitting false tips is extremely reckless behavior and wastes the time and resources needed for actual emergencies. Any student found filing false tips on FortifyFL, or by any other means, will face severe consequences up to and including arrests, restitution and expulsion.
Parents, please make sure your children understand that filing a false threat, even if intended as a joke, can result in life-altering consequences.
We encourage continued conversation with your students about these matters. Please review these resources and share them with your students.
Additionally, state law requires school districts to provide you with information on the consequences of making a threat or false report through FortifyFL or other means. We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to review this course that has been developed for you and your child. The link to the course is provided below.
All threats will be taken seriously, resulting in severe consequences as outlined in the course. It is crucial for parents and guardians to review this course to understand the implications fully and to have an informed discussion with their children. Even threats made in jest can have significant, life-altering consequences, so it is essential to take this matter seriously.
