π¨ An Afternoon of Inclusion at the Cheyenne Children's Museum π
Tuesday, November 10 | 12:00β5:00 PM
Cheyenne Children's Museum, 1618 O'Neil Ave., Cheyenne (corner of 17th & O'Neil)
We have something really special to share with our Arc family! π
The Arc is partnering with the Cheyenne Children's Museum to host an exclusive afternoon just for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The museum is usually open only to children, but on Tuesday, November 10, they're opening their doors from 12:00 to 5:00 PM just for our community.
That means the whole museum is ours for the afternoon. There won't be big crowds and nobody will be rushing you. You can explore the hands-on exhibits at your own pace, play, laugh, and spend time with friends. ποΈπ§©
ποΈ About the Museum
The Cheyenne Children's Museum opened its doors in downtown Cheyenne in August 2025, after more than a decade of hard work by community members who dreamed of a place where people could learn through hands-on play. The museum's exhibits are built around science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Many of them celebrate some of Wyoming's most unique features, so there's a little bit of home in every corner! π€ π¬π¨
Many of our members have driven past the museum and wondered what's inside. Now's your chance to find out!
βοΈ Make an Ornament for the Tree Lighting π
From 1:00 to 3:00 PM, The Arc will host a craft session where members will make ornaments for the upcoming annual Tree Lighting. All the supplies will be ready and waiting for you. You just need to bring your creativity! ποΈβ¨
Every ornament made that afternoon will help decorate the tree for our whole community to enjoy this holiday season. When the lights come on this year, you'll be able to point to the tree and say, "I made that!" π
It's a wonderful way for our members to leave their mark on a Cheyenne tradition and be seen as part of the community they belong to. Watch for more details about the Tree Lighting so we can all go see our ornaments shine together!
π Why This Matters
At The Arc, we believe everyone deserves to be welcomed, included, and celebrated in every part of community life. That includes museums, parks, holiday traditions, and every space in between.
Too often, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are left out of experiences others take for granted. Sometimes a place feels too crowded, too loud, or too rushed. Sometimes nobody thought to send an invitation. Events like this one change that. When a community partner says "this space is for you," it sends a powerful message: you belong here.
π A Note from Charity
"I'm so excited for this afternoon! Our members don't always get the chance to explore a place like the Children's Museum without feeling hurried or out of place. This is their time and their space. And making ornaments for the Tree Lighting means our members will be part of something the whole city sees and celebrates. I can't wait to see their faces when that tree lights up!"
β Charity Henning, Executive Director
π Tips for a Great Visit
π Wear comfortable shoes. There's lots to explore!
π Eat lunch before you come. That way you can dive right into the fun.
πΈ Bring your camera or phone. You'll want to remember this day!
π Come when it works for you. Drop in anytime between 12 and 5, and plan to be there 1β3 if you want to make an ornament.
π€ Bring a buddy. Support persons, caregivers, and family members are welcome to come along!
πΈ Share the Fun!
We'd love to see your museum adventures and ornament creations! Tag The Arc of Laramie County in your photos or send them to us at arcoflc@arcoflaramiecounty.org. We'll share our favorites in a future newsletter and on Facebook. π«
π Thank You, Cheyenne Children's Museum!
We're so grateful to the Cheyenne Children's Museum for making room for everyone. Partnerships like this are what inclusion looks like in real life. A space usually set aside for one group is opening its doors to welcome another, and we can't wait to fill it with smiles. π

Thank you Zone!
π A Big Thank You to the Cheyenne Moose! π«
Our hearts are full! The Cheyenne Moose Lodge chose The Arc for their Heart of the Community Drive, and wow, did they deliver! π
The lodge made a generous donation of their own and reached out to Moose chapters near and far to collect even more support for our members and families. π°β¨ On top of that, they gathered games and craft items π²π¨ that will bring even more fun and creativity to our game nights and activities.
The Moose family already feels like home to us π‘. Every Thursday they open their doors so our members can share a meal, play games, dance, and spend time with friends. This gift is one more reminder of how lucky we are to have them in our corner. π€
A huge thank you to the Cheyenne Moose and to every chapter who answered the call! When you see our Moose friends, be sure to tell them thanks! ππ«
ππ Thank You, Cheyenne Little Theatre Players! ππ
On Sunday, October 4th, Arc members and their support people enjoyed an afternoon of laughter, music, and fairytale fun at Shrek The Musical at the Mary Godfrey Playhouse! π§ β¨
We're so grateful to Cheyenne Little Theatre Players for the tickets that made this outing possible. Live theatre has a special kind of magic, and they truly understand that it belongs to everyone. π
It was the perfect show for our Arc family, too. Shrek is all about celebrating what makes each of us unique and being proud of who we are, a message we live every day! π΄πΈπ
Thank you, Cheyenne Little Theatre Players, for helping make theatre a place where everyone belongs. ππ
