China Primary School - November 14th 2025
Dear Families,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we want to take a moment to express our gratitude for our wonderful school community. These past 3 days at China Primary have been filled with exciting learning experiences, from engaging classroom activities to heartwarming moments that remind us of the importance of kindness and gratitude.
Looking ahead to next week, forms for our Giving Tree should be returned by Monday the 17th. If you need a new form please reach out to the office. Information regarding the China Primary School Giving Tree can be found below as well. We are happy to help navigate this process for you! If you are someone who is able to help this holiday season please stop by the office at China Primary beginning next Thursday November 20th to take a tag off our Giving Tree.
As the weather begins to change we see very different temperatures from morning to afternoon. We will always go outside unless the weather is too rainy OR the โfeels likeโ temperature is below 10 degrees. This being said please be sure your kiddo has warm clothes so that they are able to happily access the playground.
Warm regards,
Liz Pattershall, Principal
Kahlie Desrosiers, Dean of Students
Notice Regarding Attendance & Dismissal
If your student will be tardy, absent or dismissed early please update our administrative assistant, Mae Slevinsky by calling 207-445-1550 or emailing (mslevinsky@rsu18.org). It is helpful if emails are directed to your student's teacher as well.
If your student's dismissal plans are different than their regular routine you MUST communicate this to the front office/administrative assistant. Please be sure to communicate any changes for end of day dismissal plans prior to 2:00pm so students can be sure to receive their notes.

RSU 18 will be implementing remote snow days for this year (more details on the website) and the link below is for remote meals for families who would like a lunch sent home the day before the remote day. Please sign up ASAP, so our kitchen crew can make sure they are prepared well in advance. Thanks so much!
From the Nurse
Cold and flu season is upon us. If your student experiences a fever over 100.4, vomiting or diarrhea they must stay home from school until they have been symptom free for 24 hours. Additional information around our illness policy can be found in the health handbook.
Vision and hearing screenings will be starting in November for Pre K, Kindergarten, 1st and 3rd grades. If you have questions about this process you can reach out to Nurse Amanda at asaucier@rsu18.org or 207-445-1550 and select option 3.
Please DO NOT send any medications including inhalers and epipens in with your child.
ALL medications must be brought to school by an adult and handed off to the nurse (or appropriate staff if the nurse is unavailable).

Please read below to learn about the Holiday Giving Tree at China Primary School. We encourage any families that need a bit of extra help this year to fill out the tags sent home in your child's folder today and return by Monday November 17th.
If you are in a place where you would like to help this holiday season please contact us or come on into the office today!
Reminders
Colder weather is slowing arriving with frosty mornings and chilly early recess times. Please make sure to send your student with an appropriate outdoor attire. Sweatshirts and light jackets when the temps stay above 40 degrees, and winter jackets when they dip lower.
All students are encouraged to have an extra set of clothes in their backpack or stored in their classrooms. Accidents and spills happen, and extra clothing makes the rest of the day more comfortable!
Please remember send students in sneakers on their Phys Ed days. Proper footwear helps keep everyone safe and ready to participate in all activities!

China Rec Sports
China Rec Basketball registration is open for 2025-2026 season!
Registration will close on Friday, Nov. 1th, at 5 p.m. and the season will get underway with games starting Saturday, Dec. 6. Teams and coaches will be finalized before the Thanksgiving holiday break.
This year, the league's intent (including the other towns) is to form separate boys and girls teams for grades 3rd-6th, and having an appropriate number of girls register will help out in this effort. PreK-2nd grades will remain co-ed teams.
All players will be provided a shirt or jersey. PreK/Kindergarten players will practice/scrimmage every Saturday. Grades 1/2, 3/4 and 5/6 will have games on Saturdays with practices held in the China Primary School / China Middle School gyms during the week.
Families with multiple players are offered a $5 discount per additional player.
Volunteering as a coach enables a free player registration. Please consider being a coach so we can have an appropriate number of teams and give everyone good play time!
China Recreational Sports has an extended registration period to allow families as much time as possible to register their player(s). We do not accept late registrations and require payment to be complete prior to assigning a player to a team.
China Recreational Sports offers a scholarship program for families and players to offset the cost of registration if needed.
Please visit chinarecsports.com to sign up.
Please email chinarecsports@gmail.com for more information.
