Notes from the Principal
As we near Winter Break, we've been able to celebrate so many wonderful events together as a community. From student-vs-staff competitions like the Turkey Bowl and a 6th and 7th Grade Kickball Game to a fantastic Winter Arts Showcase and Thanksgiving Community Potluck, I've been reminded of how meaningful it is to be together with our students and families. We look forward to more opportunities to break bread together in the new year and to celebrate and elevate the voices of our young people.

We were thrilled to present our Winter Arts Showcase with visual art and music from our 6th and 8th grade students. This was our first band concert since 2019!

6th Grade - Dividing Fractions
In 6th Grade math, students are developing an understanding of the relationship between the numerator and denominator in a fraction and how that relationship is affected by division. Students are using tape diagrams, equations, and expressions to represent situations related to the division of fractions which builds on their earlier work with algebraic thinking and drawings a connection between multiplication and division.
7th Grade - Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities
In 7th Grade math, students are practicing a variety of methods for solving equations in different contexts. Our 7th graders will be able to solve linear inequalities in one variable and represent their solutions on a number line. They are deepening their understanding of inequalities and how to apply terms like "less than or equal to" and "greater than or equal to" and their corresponding systems. They will be able to not only recognize these, but will be able to create and utilize these symbols in their expressions.
8th Grade - Transformations and Congruence
In 8th Grade Algebra, students are developing their skills in transforming shapes and angles across a plane. They are making use of ideas like "reflection," "rotation," and "translation" and distinguishing between "transformation" and "rigid transformation." They are using linear equations in slope and intercept form to find points intersection to create geometric figures to form "stain glass windows" to decorate the classroom.
