Student Device Insurance - Enroll by October 1

Device insurance for student devices has moved to a new system for the 2026-27 school year. Families who wish to participate must enroll by October 1 through your PowerSchool Parent Portal account.

    • Enrollment Cost: $30 per student device
    • Free/Reduced Meal Students: $0 enrollment cost
    • How to Enroll: Log into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account and complete the Insurance Form under "Forms." Via the PowerSchool app, go to "More," then "Forms." The $30 enrollment fee will be collected within the form.

Insurance can significantly reduce the cost of repairs or replacement. With insurance, the cost for a standard repair is $40, while lost or stolen devices have a $100 replacement fee. Without insurance, families are responsible for the increased repair or replacement costs. Visit the One-to-One Learning page of our website for additional Student Device FAQs and responsibilities.

Replacement costs without insurance:

    • K-2: $400
    • Grades 3-8: $475
    • Grades 9-12: $500

Additional fees apply: Case replacement ($40 with insurance/$110 without), Apple-certified charger replacement ($40 with or without insurance), and cleaning fee for sticker removal ($20 with or without insurance).

PCR-3 is Cell Phone Free

Platte County School District is Cell Phone Free during the school day to support focused learning, respectful interactions, and a safe, welcoming school environment. The plan is in alignment with Missouri legislation (Senate Bill 68) and means students will keep their personal devices put away during the school day so they can fully engage in learning and social connections. Learn more about what this means, what devices are included, and how we support students by clicking here.

Celebrations and Birthdays

We believe it is important for the school to recognize our students on their birthday and other special days. However, for several reasons including increased food allergies and preservation of the instructional day, students are not allowed to bring treats from home or have flowers/balloons or other items delivered to the classroom for birthdays, going-away parties, or other personal events. Each classroom teacher will recognize the student in a special way to celebrate his or her birthday.

If a student receives a delivery at school, the student will be notified to come to the office to view the item. Parents will be responsible for transporting the item home. Birthday party invitations may only be distributed if invitations are given to every student in the class.

All visitors must check in at the school office upon arrival before entering the building.

To enhance safety and security, all of our schools now use the Hall Pass Visitor Management System, which:

  • Screens each visitor against the sex offender registry

  • Logs volunteer hours

  • Documents late-arriving students

Any non-student or non-district employee requesting to enter areas of the building accessible to children (beyond the front office) will be required to present a government-issued photo ID, such as:

  • State driver’s license

  • State-issued ID card

  • Passport

  • U.S. Military ID

  • Permanent resident card

A visitor badge must be worn at all times while in the building

Counselor News

WELCOME BACK!

I’m excited to introduce a new monthly staff newsletter designed to help keep everyone informed about our counseling plans, activities, and upcoming initiatives throughout the school year. This is a pilot newsletter for elementary counselors, and I’m excited to have volunteered to launch it at our building! Please see the newsletter attached below.

Each month, the newsletter will include:

  • Grade-level classroom dates
  • Lesson theme(s) for the month with the DESE standards.
  • Save the Dates
  • Tips and facts for creating trauma-informed classrooms

We are also so excited to welcome Colleen Nichols to our building as our part-time counselor! This year, Colleen will be in the building Monday–Friday afternoons. We are thrilled to have her join our team and look forward to the support she will provide to our students and staff.

Here’s to a wonderful school year! We’re looking forward to working together to support the social-emotional well-being of all our students.
