Week 9

Dear MUMS community,

Thanks for your support as we finish up our MUMS sports seasons and our first Quarter!

Congratulations to the MUMS girls Cross Country Team for bringing home the middle school state championship this past weekend! We had lots of successful runners on both the girls and boys team and we are so proud of all of them!

As you all know, our athletic department could not function without the commitment from our outstanding coaches! If you bump into them in the coming weeks, please take a moment to express your gratitude for their work!

We will finalize report cards throughout the week next week. You can expect to see them in your mailboxes the following week.

Lastly, we hope that those of you who celebrate have a safe and joy filled Halloween!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Best,

Michaela Wisell ~ Principal

From the MYP Coordinator

Greetings MUMS Caregivers!

As we end our first quarter of learning here at MUMS, it is a great time to reflect on learning as well as our important skills, “Approaches to Learning” like critical thinking, organization, affective skills. communication, and collaboration.

This week I’d like to highlight the students in Kristen Carra’s 8th grade cooking class, who practiced and demonstrated superior collaboration and reflection skills!

As part of their Health cooking unit, students learned important skills like knife safety, kitchen hygiene, cooking techniques, and practiced the very important ATL of collaboration. In particular, students worked together to produce 8 gallons of cider in Ms Carra’s cider press! Forming a well-oiled production line, some students were cutting apples, other students delivering apples, others turning the press, and others cleaning up. Huge thank you to Sunrise Orchards for donating the 10 bushels of apples for this cooperative learning opportunity. The students finished the unit with a reflective summative slideshow presentation: Reflecting on their learning, why cooking and kitchen safety skills are important, and how they could apply these skills in the future.

Bridport and Shoreham Grade Configuration Design Feedback

Last fall, Superintendent Baker held meetings with Bridport & Shoreham teachers and families to review student performance data and discuss how best to support greater academic success. This summer a working group of Bridport and Shoreham families formed a working group to help design a K-5 single-grade model at one school for the Board to consider for the 2026-27 year.

We now invite our ACSD community to offer feedback using this community survey which includes an overview of the Working Group’s design. All community feedback will be shared with the ACSD Board on November 10th. The Board will review the final design and all feedback in November to determine the 2026-2027 path forward for Bridport & Shoreham students.

Shoreham/Cornwall bus caveats

Please use the "button" above to preview our ACSD bus routes.

Also please note a few caveats that impact students who ride Cornwall or Shoreham buses home.

Cornwall and Shoreham buses do not come to MUMS at pick-up time. Students who ride those buses must take a shuttle from MUMS to MUHS to meet their bus.

Cornwall students use the Bridport bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Cornwall bus at the High school to ride home.
Shoreham students use the Weybridge bus as their MUMS-MUHS shuttle and get on the Shoreham bus at the High school to ride home.
