TPSP in Fort Bend ISD π΅π π’
Our GT students have moved into the project phase of the Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP) following planning sessions with their teachers during October, and we're excited to see their research unfold over the coming months. It is critical to stress that for students in grades 1-8, TPSP is fundamentally a school-based research project, meaning the majority of the work is expected to be completed in a school setting rather than at home. Meanwhile, TPSP remains an optional opportunity for students in grades 9-12, and GT teachers will offer support for their projects outside of regular instructional time. We are already looking forward to the culmination of all this hard work at the campus showcases this spring, and parents should plan to check their respective campus web pages in early spring to find the specific presentation dates. All TPSP projects must be completed by February 27, 2026.
For more information, please check your campus GT webpage or contact your campus Champion of Gifted Services (COGS).
Please see the campus GT webpage for specific dates for your childβs campus.

More Field Experiences!
GTA seventh graders ventured off campus to learn about Texas history at The Bryan Museum in Galveston. On location, they formulated questions about Texas history that they will seek to answer on their annual overnight field experience to San Antonio in March. While in Galveston, students also orienteered, using paper maps to locate eclectic tree sculptures in the Historic East End. Sketches of the tree sculptures were then used for a creative assignment focusing on the concept of power dynamics.
GTA eighth graders caravanned to Galveston to tour the Ocean Star Oil Rig Museum and conduct a waves experiment on Galveston beach. Students made connections to the overarching concept of innovations while on site. Later, on October 27th, eighth grade students visited MECA Cultural Center in Houston to view authentic ofrendas, learning firsthand about the tradition of Dia de los Muertos and participating in sessions led by MECA staff.
GTA students represented the GTA, QVMS, and themselves with pride. Each experience was a unique opportunity to engage students through fascinating, challenging, and relevant curriculum. Eight other off-campus field experiences and several on-campus field experiences are planned throughout the remainder of the year.
