Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear SHELC Families,

We’re excited to celebrate with our learners at Trunk-or-Treat on Friday, October 30, beginning at 1p.m. Our learners will enjoy visiting decorated trunks with their classmates and teachers!

Thank you to the families who have volunteered to help make this event special. We look forward to a fun afternoon together!

Supporting Learning at Home

A few minutes of practice each day can make a big difference. Here are some ways to support your learner:

  • Read together daily. Ask your child to share what happened in the story or tell you their favorite part.

  • Practice letters and sounds. For older learners, practice reading words and explaining their meaning.

  • Make math part of everyday activities. Count objects, compare amounts, or practice addition and subtraction.

  • Ask about learning. Try, “What did you learn today?” or “Show me how you solved that problem.”

  • Celebrate effort and progress. Encourage your learner to keep trying, even when a task feels difficult.

Thank you for partnering with us to help every Hawk grow and succeed!

Best,

Mrs. Smith
