Week Thirty-One Notes

Hello Viking Families,

As we begin the month of May, it’s hard to believe we are entering the final stretch of the school year! Our classrooms continue to be filled with meaningful learning, strong student engagement, and thoughtful conversations as students apply all they have learned this year. This is a time when we often see tremendous growth, both academically and socially, as students build confidence and independence. We are also looking forward to many special end-of-year events and opportunities to celebrate our students’ accomplishments. Thank you for your continued support and partnership—it truly makes a difference as we work together to ensure a strong finish to the school year!

With Viking Pride,

Mrs. Love

Note from Mr. Briggs

As we head into spring, we know students are feeling a little more energy and excitement in their day. It’s a great time to remind everyone of our Viking Value of making wise choices. We’re continuing to talk with students about how their decisions impact themselves and others, both in and out of the classroom. We’ve also been recognizing students who are consistently doing the right thing. We appreciate your continued support in helping keep our school a positive place for everyone.

Some students were rewarded with eating donuts with Officer Gore for making wise choices. In April, we will celebrate with popsicles with Mrs. Love!

Go Vikings!

Dundee Community Schools has provided you with the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. The Infinite Campus Parent Portal allows you to have real-time access to announcements, attendance, report cards and more. We would like every parent to have access to this tool as all report cards will now be here. No paper copies will be sent home unless requested. Below is a link to create and activate your Campus Parent account.

• Create your own unique username. Please DO NOT use your student's ID number or network login.

• Enter a password until at least the indicator for the password turns green and says 100%.

Mental Health Matters Mental Health Matters

This May, we’re celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month with the heart-warming theme: "More Good Days Together." Here are some simple, at-home tips for families to practice "More Good Days Together" throughout May:

· Name it to Tame it: Encourage your child to talk openly about their feelings. You can lead by example by naming your own emotions out loud—using simple words like "stressed," "worried," or "excited"—to show that all feelings are normal.

· The 3-3-3 Grounding Tool: If your child feels overwhelmed or stuck in "spiraling" thoughts, try this quick sensory reset: have them name 3 things they see, 3 sounds they hear, and move 3 different parts of their body.

· Create a "Gratitude Jar": Find a see-through jar and some small items like marbles or beans. Every time someone notices an "act of kindness" or a reason for a "good day," add an item to the jar to visualize your collective well-being.

· Move Together: Physical activity releases endorphins that naturally boost mood. Whether it’s a family walk, a bike ride, or a "30-second dance party," moving together is one of the easiest ways to turn a day around.

· "Check-In" Rituals: Try a daily 5-minute check-in where everyone shares one highlight (a "good" moment) and one challenge from their day. This builds a routine of connection and support.

Please reach out if you are in need of additional support.
