It was another great week at Young Elementary. Next week should finally cool down some. Please remember to put your child's name in their jackets/hoodies. Our lost and found is filling up!
Important things for this week:
- Color Fun Run individual fundraising information is coming home on Monday! Our goal is for every student to raise $40.
- Wednesday is picture day. All students will get their picture made for the yearbook. See information below about ordering photos.
- We will be having a Candy Drive this week for the Springdale Police Department Halloween Fest. Donated candy needs to be brought to third grade pod (Green Hall). The class in each hall that donates the most candy will get donuts with Officer Oktay (Our SRO).
- There is no school on Friday, October 18th due to a teacher work day.
- The final cross country race is at George Junior High (3200 S Powell St, Springdale, AR 72764) on Wednesday. Dress nice for school pictures during the day but wear your race shirts to the RACE. Shout out to Coach Mitchell and Coach Moppin for going above and beyond and having a cross country team. There will be no more running club after school practices after Wednesday. Our K-2 will still meet on Tuesday.

Save the Date (It's on October 31st!!) and plan to come watch your child have the best time. Individual fundraising will be coming home Monday! We will move to an online platform to make it easier this year but still have the option of collecting traditionally with the envelope. We are working to raise money to update the jungle gym playground equipment! See the image below!
Veteran's Day- Planning Ahead
Veterans Day is coming soon. Our second graders will be performing for Veterans Day this year. We are planning to add a small slideshow to our performance. If there is a veteran or active military member in your child's life, please send a picture to younginfo@sdale.org. Include the veteran's name and student's name. All photos need to be sent in by Thursday, November 7. We will include all slides from last year if the student still attends Young Elementary. If there are changes to that slide, please let us know. You are invited to attend The Veterans Day program on Monday, November 11th at 6:00PM. All Veterans are welcome!
