A reminder that trimester 1 ends this upcoming Friday, November 6th. Report cards will go home Friday, November 13, 2026.

We have several parents that have reached out to me and are interested!!! YEAH!!! We are working on putting together a date for a PTC meeting so that we can vote a new board in. More information to come. We are looking to have the meeting November 9th @ 5:00. I will confirm and send out a parent square confirming this date and time.

This school year, we will be offering Extended School Year opportunities, including Saturday School and a Winter Session. We are asking families to complete the interest survey and select the datesand times that you are interested in for your child (click on survey below).
Families may choose from:

• Half Day: 7:30 AM–12:30 PM
• Full Day: 7:30 AM–4:30 PM

Please make sure to indicate all dates and the length of day that you are interested in attending. Once we have received the total number of students interested in each Saturday School date and the Winter Session, we will provide families with additional information regarding the schedule and program details.

**Reminder to please check your emails that you listed on your volunteer paperwork. There is a mandated reporter training that is new this year that must be completed for all volunteers. It was sent last week.** I went through and sent reminder emails as well this afternoon.

Volunteer Process

🐯 Kit Carson Volunteer Information & Procedures

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We appreciate your interest in volunteering at Kit Carson! To volunteer or chaperone during the 2026–2027 school year, all volunteers must complete the following steps:

1. Complete the Volunteer Contact Form (Must be completed Yearly)
Please complete our Volunteer Contact Form.
Even if you completed the form last year, you must complete it again this year!

2. Complete a TB Risk Assessment
Complete the TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire and submit it to the school nurse for review and signature. TB assessments are valid for 4 years. If you have a recent TB test or signed assessment, you may upload it through the Volunteer Contact Form.

3. Bring a Valid ID
Your identification will be run through our RAPTOR security system.

Once all three steps are completed, you will be cleared to volunteer on campus for classroom and special events.

🚌 Field Trip Chaperones

Updated Change for Fingerprinted Volunteers

If you are a fingerprinted volunteer, please be aware that there is a new California mandate requiring volunteers to complete Mandated Reporter Training.

You will receive an email through Keenan with instructions to complete the required training. We will be using the email that you provided via the Volunteer Contact Form that was filled out this school year.

If you work for another school district in Kings County and already complete Mandated Reporter Training annually through your district, you may submit documentation of your completed training to Kit Carson in place of completing the training through Keenan.

Additional requirements will apply for chaperones who will supervise students without a Kit Carson employee present. Your child’s classroom teacher will initiate the chaperone process. If you are interested in chaperoning a field trip, please contact your child’s teacher.

You will be required to get fingerprinted and complete a mandated reporter training through our online platform Keenan.
