Tree Campus K-12 Recognition

Congratulations to PVMS East and PVMS West on each of their schools being named a Tree Campus K-12 for the 2022-2023 school year by the Arbor Day Foundation. This national recognition is earned by our schools meeting four goals; tree campus team, education plan, hands-on experience, and Arbor Day observation.

Trees and green space provide many benefits to our communities. These include reducing greenhouse gasses; improved mental and physical well-being; reducing air pollution, providing a wildlife habitat; reducing air temperature; and cleaning water. Trees are amazing and so important for a healthy ecosystem. 🌲🌳#PVWoods

Tree Campus K-12 inspires collaboration between schools, students and communities to facilitate experiences with trees as a learning tool. The program encourages schools and educators to create purposeful opportunities for students to interact with trees by offering resources as well as a framework for becoming recognized and celebrating their efforts with their community.

Congratulations again to PVMS East and PVMS West on this national recognition!!! Way to go!

Nurse's Notes

Required Immunizations

Please make sure that your child has their required immunizations to start school. Our nurse will be reaching out to individual families without their proper paperwork.

Physical & Dental Exams

Sixth grade students require a physical examination and seventh grade students require a dental examination. Exams from July 1, 2022 to the present are acceptable. If your child has had these examinations, please be sure to send a copy to the Nurse's office. Forms are available on the PV website. Your cooperation with this is most appreciated!

Medication

If your child requires medication during the school day, parents must bring the medication to school with the appropriate forms completed by the physician. The forms can be found on the PV website. No medication should be in the student’s possession (pockets, lunch, purse/handbag, or backpack) unless designated by the nurse per state laws.

It is especially important if your child has been diagnosed with a life-threatening allergy, seizures or asthma AND requires emergency medication that you supply the nurse with the required medication.

All medications are to be delivered directly to the nurse’s office and kept in the health room unless otherwise designated by the school nurse. Medication may be delivered at the start of the school year.

PV East Athletic Update

Middle School East Cross Country Head Coach: Ashley Lewis

Head Coach Ashley Lewis is entering her 1st year as head coach for East Cross Country. Coach Lewis was the assistant coach for cross country for one year. She currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Middle School East. She currently lives in Conshohocken and enjoys spending time with family and friends. When asked her favorite part of coaching, Coach Lewis responded, "I like being able to see all the achievements athletes make during the season and the friendships they gain from their teammates."

Middle School East Boys Soccer Head Coach: Jared Dubbs

Coach Dubbs is very excited to be a part of the soccer community at East. While it is his first year coaching at East, he has been coaching soccer for about 6 years for FC Montco. Deanna Kozak (the assistant coach) and him love coaching and enjoy making the players better teammates and they get excited when they see the team begin to gel throughout the season. Outside of the fall, he coaches the high school wrestling team, and his son's club team. If he is not coaching, he enjoys spending time with hi8s wife and 2 sons at home.

Middle School East Girls Soccer Head Coach: Rob Lowry

Head Coach Rob Lowry is entering his 6th season as the head coach of the PV Middle School East Girls Soccer program. In 1994, he moved his family to Royersford and the archrival Spring-Ford school district. He has been married to his wife Sue for 34 years and has two daughters. Oldest daughter Sara (SF ’11, PSU ’15) lives in Collegeville and works for USLI insurance while Emily (SF ’16, PSU ’20) is entering her third year of Veterinary School at Iowa State University.

Rob coached both daughters in intramural soccer and was head coach of Emily’s travel soccer team for eight years with the first two at West-Mont United (Blue Lightning) and the remaining years with Perkiomen Valley Soccer Club (Pumas). He thought he was retired from coaching following Emily’s U18 season but got a phone call in late August 2018 that the East coach just resigned and there would not be a season if they couldn’t find a coach. He thought he would help out that one season but was bit again by the “coaching bug” and the rest is history. “Few things in life are as rewarding as turning a group of girls with varying talent into a cohesive unit while teaching them about teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship.”

Middle School East Volleyball Head Coach: Henry Min

Head Coach Henry Min is entering his second season at Middle School East, his first as head coach. He is a Perkiomen Valley resident residing with wife, Sharon and two daughters – Eleanor PV Class of 2018, and current PV senior Natalie, - both varsity and club volleyball players as well as other varsity sports. Professionally, Henry manages the operational risk management team at the Philadelphia Federal Reserve. He has coached volleyball previously with the PVYB youth league and St. Eleanors CYO program. He also served as president of the PV Volleyball Booster club where he helped encourage participation and expansion of volleyball at Perkiomen Valley. Henry enjoys the challenge of getting middle school girls involved in a team sport and all that demands from them. “Learning how to be part of a team while working to improve their own skills and capabilities, fundamentally prepares them for their future educational and work experiences. I’m blessed to be part of the PV community and humbled to be able to contribute in this small way.”

Middle School East Field Hockey Head Coach: Amanda Smith

TWEEN Talk Group

Tweens, ages 11 to 13, are invited to chat in a fun, informal atmosphere with Erin McMonagle, a guidance counselor at Perkiomen Valley East Middle School - as part of our Julia’s Joy Youth Empowerment Program. We have created a safe group, where they can come relax, unload and learn they are not alone all while meeting new friends. We believe learning Stress Management tips will help youth deal with the pressures they are feeling at this age and into the future!

This group is free thanks to donations, if you would like to make a donation, it is always appreciated, but not necessary!
