From the Principal's Desk
Hello Little Viking Families,
We have made it to Spring Break. I can't believe it will be April when we return to school! After break, I will be returning to Salt Creek full time, but I wanted to take a moment to give my sincere gratitude to Mr. Hanus for serving as interim principal during my leave this winter. We are so incredible lucky to have had his expertise and he made this transitional time so smooth for myself and our students.
Thank you Steven!
A few IMPORTANT announcements for our return from spring break:
1) Construction begins at the building TODAY (3/28) - When we return there will be fencing and construction happening outside the building. This will NOT change our pick-up procedures but please use caution when driving on campus. For more specific information, please watch this brief video and view the fence map below.
2) Registration is OPEN! Please do not wait until the last minute to register your students, we are already determining grade level section and class sizes. Knowing the number of students per grade helps us plan accurately for next year.
3) 2nd Grade STAYING at Salt Creek - Just a reminder that with the passing of the referendum the district is conducting a grade level reconfiguration at each building. In the 2025-26 school year, Salt Creek Primary will house PK-2nd grade, Stella May Swartz will be home to 3rd -5th graders and Albright will be a 6-8 middle school.
4) Unfortunately, due to the construction projects this spring, the Salt Creek Open House and Art Show will be postponed until the Fall. Stay tuned for an exciting open house to tour our new addition!
5) Finally, do not forget to complete our 5Essentials parent survey. We want to hear from YOU! Let us know how we are doing and how we can improve at Salt Creek Primary. You can access the survey here: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/
Have a wonderful Spring Break and we will see you back at school on Monday, April 7th.
-Mrs. Scanlan
Fence/Construction Map
Just a reminder that construction will start outside Salt Creek Primary over Spring Break. When we return, there will be fencing around the school, shown on this diagram in red. All emergency exits will still be accessible and dismissal/pick-up procedures will remain the same. As always, we urge extra caution when driving on the blacktop and through the parking lot. For more information, please watch Mrs. Scanlan's detailed video HERE.

School Hours
Attention Parents - School doors open at 7:40 am. There is no staff supervision prior to this time. Classes start at 7:50 am.
Students who come in late find it harder to establish a good morning routine at school. Teachers are beginning instruction and a late student is missing out. Thank you for your assistance in making sure your students arrive to school on time!

Lunch Balances
Overdue Breakfast/ Lunch Balances
Don't forget to check and pay any overdue lunch balances. You can check balances and pay on your parent Skyward account. You can also send cash or check payment to school with your child in a marked envelope with name and what payment is for. The office will then account for the cash or check payment on your student's Skyward.

I Love U Guys ❤️
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted an emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
Payments & Fees
In your parent portal in skyward, click on the fee payment tile, then in the far right hand top corner click on the "make online payments" button. This will take you to Revtrak. Make sure to sign up before you try to make payment. Once you can sign in, click the Make a Payment button in the middle of the page. This new service will streamline the payments so you can make a payment or set up recurring payments. This is directly connected to Skyward so you see the money immediately go to your child's account. If you have any questions please email or call your school office.
Preschool Payments: Once in Revtrak you will see in the upper right area an arrow next to SHOP. Click the arrow and pick Preschool in order for you to complete your payment. If you have any questions please email or call the Salt Creek school office.
