Camp Update

Join Camp Contact at Burning Man 2025 – A Year of Renewal

Camp Contact’s most significant annual gathering happens at Burning Man, where we form a community of dancers who celebrate Contact Improvisation, Embodiment Practices, Authentic Relating, and Circling.

After a particularly challenging strike in 2024, we are in a period of restructuring and renewal. We are not certain if we will be granted placement as a camp for 2025. Placement has encouraged us to take time to refine our community, ensuring we remain a sustainable, well-balanced camp. I believe we will be offered placement if we can provide a strong team and coherent plan to bring our camp in 2025. This means downsizing to under 100 campers with a more manageable infrastructure while maintaining and dialing in the magic that has made Camp Contact special.

We are actively seeking dedicated and experienced campmates—especially veteran burners familiar with medium to large camp logistics—who can commit to staying through Tuesday evening (or later if needed) to assist with strike and MOOP sweep. Our goal is to distribute leadership more effectively, prevent burnout, and build resilience against unpredictable weather events while taking on less and spending less time on playa.

This is a unique opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Camp Contact. If you’ve camped with us before and resonate with our community of practice, we’d love to welcome you back. If you’re new but bring the dedication and experience to support a thriving large camp, we invite you to apply.

In particular, I want to create a stronger pod based form of camp, where groups of campers who know each other well come to join as a pod and offer specific meals, infrastructure and events. Not everyone will come to camp knowing people, but campers who are accepted will be assigned to a pod which will meet regularly leading up to the burn.

Let’s come together to create a sustainable, inspiring, and deeply connected Camp Contact for Burning Man 2025 and beyond.

We are now accepting applications of interest for Camp Contact at Burning Man 2025!

Burning Man Tickets

Much has changed with Burning Man tickets this year. For now, I encourage everyone who is considering going to Burning Man this year either:

1. Enter the Today Ticket sale
2. Apply for the Ticket Aid (Low Income) Ticket Program (Opens February 19nd)

For the Today Ticket Sale

Preregister for the Today Ticket Sale by Noon Pacific on Tuesday the 11th and then attempt to buy tickets at Noon Pacific on Wednesday the 12th. If funds are tight, I recommend you only purchase tickets if you can get them for $550 or $650, however you may want to generously support Burning Man and pay for tickets at the higher tier levels.

Camp Contact is currently not scheduled to receive tickets in the Stewards Ticket Sale. That said, if we are approved to bring some form of camp to the Playa this year, we will likely be eligible to purchase tickets in July.

We're getting ready for another Container to the Playa in 2025 and have an even better load in location lined up for 2025. We also are already planning to use the same drop off point in Richmond. We are looking to build out the Camp Contact Container leadership please reach out to me (BOLTh) at dance@campcontact.org if you want to be a part of this team!

Camp Contact has had its storage at land in Culpeper, VA for the past 3 years. We have had a new space become available in Middleburg, VA that offers a lot more space with a lot of new possibilities! We are in the process of moving and hope to be complete by the end of February. If you have time after LoveBurn to help Darrell (BOLTh) move gear from one site to the other, please reach out!

Camp Contact will be attending Playa Del Fuego! We are having our planning meeting on Tuesday, May 14th at GlowHouse or Online. For anyone who might have tickets, we have campers seeking them, please let us know.

We are sad to hear that Transformus is likely not happening in 2025, we hope we are mistaken and some magic happens to bring it together for this summer. However, we also understand that there is a movement to bring a new Burn event to the original location of Transformus, at Deerfields. Join the Facebook group for this to learn more!

We also are aware of some other events in the works for possibly as early as May of 2025 but don't have enough details to announce them.

Save the Date! VibeCamp, happening June 19-22, 2025 at Ramblewood, in Darlington, Maryland, is an emergent community in its fourth year that gathers for a long weekend of conversations, workshops, special events, dance parties, and all the rest. Attendees come mostly from loose connection of networks on twitter, including the 'tpot' community. I was especially glad to find the list of growth modalities created by Christine of this community. Attendees include Rationalists, Burners, Effective Altruists, Lurkers, and people who had never heard of those things.

Camp Contact is excited to join in the festivities again this year. Plans are still being made for Camp Contact's Role at Vibecamp 4

Camp Contact creates transformational workshops that bring embodiment, awareness, sensitivity and inspiration and offers them at burns! And, we work together to understand and grow in our relationships. This camp is an ever growing network of amazing humans. We are so grateful that, at each event, bonds are foraged and/or deepened. You put the connection into Contact. Thank you for being you! We look forward to dancing with you from the Eclipsing Sun to the Dust.

Camp Contact relies on your donations and support to grow our movement movement. If Camp Contact has impacted you in a positive way, please consider sending a financial donation of any size via any of our payment methods to keep us going strong and support our offerings and infrastructure:

• Venmo - @campcontact
• Paypal - dance@campcontact.org
• Zelle - dance@campcontact.org
• Crypto - campcontact.eth on Ethereum and sidechains

If there are other forms of Financial Capital you'd like to donate, or if you'd like to receive a tax deduction for a donation via our fiscal sponsor, please be in touch at dance@campcontactr.org

We also rely on volunteer support and could use help with admin and technical support, particularly Linux System administration and PHP/Drupal coding. We would love to document our culture, create/edit videos about camp life, infrastructure construction and other aspects of camp.

We are interested in hosting other gathering or fundraisers in other cities. There is some talk of a Fundraiser in New York City, message BOLTh at dance@campcontact.org
