Beautiful Rainbow Over HSS last Friday
It's hard to believe that the end of our first trimester is almost here. In a few weeks you will be hearing from your child(ren)'s teacher to set up a conference. This is a great opportunity to discuss how your child is doing at school and share any concerns or celebrations. I will be available during the conference days as well and feel free to email me if you'd like to set up a time to talk about anything in particular. Conferences will be on December 12th and 13th.

Report Cards
Our first Trimester ends on Friday, November 22nd. This year, the Thanksgiving break is the following week; just like the students, our faculty are on break during this time. End-of-term reporting takes approximately a week and a half, so we anticipate that report cards will be available to all of you through ALMA on December 10th. This will ensure you have them a couple of days before the parent/teacher conferences.
If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me.

HSS Drama Club
The drama club has been hard at work preparing for their performance of the Lion King Kids. They will have a full day rehearsal on the 20th followed by three performances that weekend.
Finding Our Stride
We had a great fall season of Finding Our Stride! The third and fourth grade teams practiced running, squatting, planking, stretching and lots of teamwork. On October 20th, we participated in the CHaD HERO race to raise money for Dartmouth Health Children's. Some students ran 1 mile and others ran a 5K course. Thank you, parents and teachers, for all of your support this season. Please keep an eye out for a spring season flyer in April. Practices will start shortly after the April break. We hope to see lots of new and familiar runners!

NEWS FROM THE NURSE
The Student Flu Clinic was Thursday, 10/31, and we had close to 100 students receive the vaccination. Thank you to DHMC for helping so many of our students get vaccinated! It is still not too late to get your FLU and COVID vaccines.
A big, special thank you to the Lion’s Club! The Lion’s Club visited HSS a couple of weeks ago and performed vision screening on over 300 students. Students brought home the report from the screening this week. If your child received a handout that states “Eye Exam Recommended,” please be sure to schedule an appointment with an eye doctor. If you need financial assistance, the Lion’s Club provides support to families. Please contact me to help start the process.
IMPORTANT: According to optometrists.org, children should see an eye doctor once a year for formal evaluation.
Alice Peck Day Hospital will be coming to HSS in a couple of weeks to perform a Dental Clinic. This is a program that is offered to all students. However, only students who return the completed forms will participate in this program.
IMPORTANT: According to the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), children 1 year and older should visit a dentist every 6 months.
NEED GEAR? Does your child need any winter gear? Please contact me so I can help.
Are you in need of a thermometer?? Email me and I will send one home with your child.
GOT CLOTHES? Do you have clothes that no longer fit your child? Please consider donating them to HSS. Specifically, I am looking for shorts and pants for both girls and boys. Thank you for your consideration.
Stay well,
